Massachusetts Senate passes ambitious clean energy bill

If the bill survives debate in the House of Representatives, it will be among the most progressive in the nation.

BOSTON – Massachusetts would run on 100-percent renewable power by 2047 under comprehensive energy legislation passed by the state Senate Thursday night.

The idealistic goal would be reached by increasing the state’s renewable portfolio standard by 3 percent every year, instead of the current 1 percent. The RPS dictates how much renewable energy…

4-H youth tour Saddleback Ridge wind turbine farm in Carthage

“Give me just one generation of youth, and I'll transform the whole world.”

― Vladimir Lenin

Article

She also discussed the strict regulations of the industry and the process of constructing the massive 500 foot tall structures. The tour was very educational and afterward the 4-H members made the hike up to the top of Saddleback Peaks where they enjoyed a picnic…

ECONOMICS OF TESLA POWERWALL 2.0 WALL-MOUNTED BATTERY SYSTEM

Much confusion exists in the minds of lay people regarding having wall-mounted batteries or not. The below article shows the homeowner cost is at least 32 c/kWh to own the Tesla Powerwall 2.0 battery for 10 years. After the 10 years have elapsed, the unit is returned to Tesla for reprocessing, because it has outlived its useful service life.

Some homeowners with roof-mounted solar systems think such batteries can be used to shift their excess midday solar…

The PTC Scam Continues with "Re-powering"

Not satisfied with continuing to wreak havoc on Maine's mountain ridgelines, the existing wind power sites may have their lifetime extended by the incentive to "re-power", especially those sites utilizing the old GE 1.5 MW turbines such as Mars Hill, Stetson, and Rollins.  According to the article "Now May Be the Best Time to Give Your Wind Turbine a Makeover" in the May 25, 2018 Renewable Energy World newsletter, "Wind farm operators can earn an 11 percent rate of return…

BDN & PPH - CMP inks deal crucial to $950M plan to pipe hydropower through western Maine

Central Maine Power Co.’s plan to build a transmission line from the Canadian border through western Maine to bring hydropower to Massachusetts passed a critical step Thursday, when the Maine utility and Massachusetts electricity distributors said they had signed a contract.

The contract, which was not made public, reportedly details the terms and energy price for the project. Through those prices, Massachusetts ratepayers ultimately will foot the bill for CMP’s $950 million New…

Get Criticism to Wind Energy Advisory Commission!

Folks, this was just released from the Governor's Energy Office.  We MUST make our points of view known, as the wind industry and the "environmental" groups they fund such as NRCM, Maine Audubon, Conservation Law Foundation, etc.  are all over this to try to thwart criticism of the scourge of industrial wind power in Maine!…

Maine wind industry propaganda masquerades as reporting in the Press Herald (Yet Again)

This "news reporting" is extremely biased, for example: (My comments are in bold)

Massachusetts has led the transition, ordering its utilities to purchase 1,600 megawatts of offshore wind by 2027, equal to 10 percent to 15 percent of the state’s annual electricity consumption. Mr. Turkel, do you not see fit to question the concept of the government ORDERING ratepayers to buy a particular product?

The Massachusetts…

Maine PUC deals blow to UMaine offshore wind project (BDN and PPH)

BDN

The Natural Resources Council of Maine criticized the commission’s vote on Tuesday to reconsider the contract terms, saying it was a “bad faith” decision that reflects Gov. Paul LePage’s anti-wind stance........“This administration will do anything to thwart renewable energy development, whether it comes from international investors or our own University of Maine,” Dylan Voorhees, NRCM’s clean energy director, said in the release."…

Just Thinking . . . . . .

Anyone watch the Tony Awards last night? I know I didn't and probably you didn't either. But it has been all over the news today. These leaches are part of the Progressive Elite that live off the underclass (you and me) and our stupid politicians, also part of the elite. I honestly have not listened to any "Late Night TV" since Jay Leno left or been to a Movie theater since Butch Cassidy.

Wind developer’s payment to Ducks Unlimited raises questions

A North Dakota wind project that raised concerns with wildlife officials about impacts to habitat is moving forward this summer after the developer made a $557,000 payment to Ducks Unlimited.

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department wrote in comments to state utility regulators that a considerable portion of the Foxtail Wind Project in Dickey County would affect native, unbroken prairie that is vital to declining wildlife populations.…

Delingpole: Epic Renewables Fail as Solar Crashes and Wind Refuses to Blow

Across the world solar energy share prices have crashed. This was caused by a sudden and unexpected decision by China, the world’s biggest solar manufacturer and user, to rein in subsidies.

According to Caixin Global:

China has abruptly put the brakes on solar power subsidies, seeking to stem overcapacity in a sector that has benefited for years from government incentives.

The move caught many in the industry off guard.

The government won’t grant subsidies to any…

White House challenges FERC on grid security

During the two-year window, DOE would determine which electricity systems and gas pipelines are critical for ensuring that military installations get the power they need and where power outages could cause the most damage.

The DOE plan said this review "has never previously been undertaken," which appeared to ignore a library of studies, analyses, surveys and "war games" directed at grid vulnerabilities, including gas-fired generators' dependence on natural gas pipeline…

Town supervisor: 'I can’t be bought by Avangrid. I heard the majority.'

Former Governor John Baldacci is of course vice chair of Avangrid, although the media in Maine refuse to report on this.

Town Supervisor Susan Wood says she can’t be bought and questions tactics used by wind developer Avangrid in its attempt to build a 27-turbine wind farm in her town.

Wood was responding to claims in the Sound Off…

NEW ENGLAND WILL NEED TRADITIONAL GENERATORS FOR DECADES

The ISO-NE reports, prepared by energy systems analysts with decades of experience, describes in great detail the operation of the grid during the cold weather period, with insufficient gas and fuel oil supply, and minimal solar most of the time, and near-zero wind on 5 days, and France taking advantage of the US by charge outrageously high prices for liquid natural gas (LNG), plus an outage of a major transmission line. It was a miracle rolling blackouts were avoided. Millions of…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
