AUBURNDALE, Mass. — Speakers at the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association Renewable Energy Conference on Feb. 1 discussed the merits and viability of different methods to achieve New England’s aggressive emission reduction goals.
These topics included carbon pricing, the Northern Pass transmission project and offshore wind energy. Utility and energy service representatives were joined by state and federal officials..............
Gardner said the first question of any state…

Daily, Weekly and Seasonal Electricity Storage
MIT Professor Steven Chu, former US-DOE Secretary, stated:
- Whereas, the turnkey capital costs of battery systems likely would be about 50% less over the next decade, that storage approach would never be cheap enough to accommodate the big seasonal shifts in renewable power production.
- Battery systems could prove…

I guess we'll see how this plays out. It sure would be nice to see similarly lengthy media attention accorded to the improper influence observed with the wind industry, the consequences of which are of a far greater magnitude to much of Maine and virtually all Maine ratepayers.
One of the actors mentioned in this article is John Richardson, working with NY's Con Ed. As a side note, it can be pointed out that John Richardson, also appears to be a member of…

The Energy Department had asked the White House for more modest spending reductions to the renewable and efficiency programs, but people familiar with the process, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share unfinished budget information, said the Office of Management and…

During public hearings, the SEC received more than 3,000 statements from individuals. Nearly 95 percent of this input was opposed to the project, leaving no question where the people of the municipalities along the Northern Pass route stand.
In addition, of the 31 towns located along the project’s route, 29 were opposed to the project. Most towns had rejected the Northern Pass project via warrant articles passed at town meeting, petitions, letters and having administrators and/or…

I wrote a comment to Darby Mutagoma, a middle schooler at no less than the King Middle School who makes a statement from the esteemed scientist Barak Obama, “No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change.” She has been thoroughly indoctrinated by her leftist educators with the propaganda from the left.
Here is my comment, I hope it awakens other children to question the lies and…

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about the economics of wind energy. In a recent earnings call, James Robo, CEO of NextEra Energy, predicted that within a decade the cost of wind generation would be more competitive “without incentives” than conventional sources like coal and natural gas. NextEra is one of the…

The rejection of Northern Pass by New Hampshire regulators puts CMP's "Clean Energy Connect" back on the front burner. Even though CMP has publicly stated that their 140 mile direct current line from Coburn Gore to Lewiston has nothing to do with wind power it stretches credulity to not see a direct connection between Nextera's 133 turbine project and this high voltage transmission line.
Even though the LUPC recently rejected Nextera's petition to expand the expedited…

A local Mainer, an entrepreneur, has had to close his business after only two years because he can't pay his extravagant electricity bill. That bill is because CMP has raised our rates so high no real industry can exist unless they are big enough to generate their own power. Without significant gas powered electricity from Pennsylvania, which they have plenty and are willing to send it, we are doomed in Maine. We have to rely on oil to heat our homes and we…

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
