Ron, I put a couple of messages in your inbox. You can group placemarks in folders in GE.

A directory of Monhegan kmz files
http://www.penbay.org/monhegan/images

Maneuver any of the g-earth images so that yellow buoy is straight ahead. Proposed Monhegan Wind R&D site begins just past it. Following that line, the first dark dot is where the line of windtowers in federal waters would begin, stretching from horizon to horizon

Charlie, if I've done this right, the link should go to my page of Monhegan-related vessel and related images

I see your web site and I see YOU are the trouble maker, standing in the way of progress, shameful. So regardless, I need better maps and descriptions. What developer documents describe the project? If the details haven't been given to a unit of government then normally they aren't available. Here's the overlay I used for the Lake Michigan wind farm. It's overlayed on Google Earth then that's imported into google Sketchup where the turbines are placed then the turbines in correct locations are placed i google earth then that can be saved as a GE kmz file and shared with who ever. http://www.thumbpower.net/kmz/Pentwater/Pentwater%20developer%20ove... If that's not available how about an outline of the site then a description of the number of turbines, spacing, MW output, height, etc.

Here is a fantasy wind farm I made to poke fun at the industry and local politicians who support wind farms. 50 years ago this town had no harbor, even though it was called Port Austin. The corps of engineers offered to build a free breakwall. That destroyed a section of beach next to the town that was the sumer resort mainstay. One of the arguments offered was that cruise ships would bring more tourists than the beach. Now there's serious efforts by the State to get windmills in saginaw bay so I thought, may be they'll say there's going to be lots of windmill tourists and the cruise ships will come after all. http://www.thumbpower.net/kmz/Port%20Austin%20Wind%20Farm%20Resort/...

Wow! that lake Michigan picture is incredible. I believe I can get you much better monhegan data than that little picture I sent -drawn by the state. Presently the state is having to put together all their justifying into for the court to examine. Many details will emerge from that. My own compendium of links is http://penbay.org/monhegan/monhegan.html

Ron, Perhaps. I need a better map and may be some details about what's proposed. Are there web sites for these projects? I've done a few offshore models. This one is for lake michigan near ludington. The turbines come as close as 2.5 miles from shore, 200 units covering 100 square miles. The developers forgot to show their proposed sunset. http://www.thumbpower.net/kmz/Pentwater/Silver%20Lake%20Dunes%20Jul... .

Charlie, these are amazing could you maybe make a similar image of Monhegan with two things added? The pair of towers the University wants to put up, and, just beyond the three mile state boundary, a large wind extraction complex of the sort that Neptune Wind and DeepCwind consortium want to set up just beyond the state line in federal waters. See map at http://penbay.org/monhegan/monhegantestmap.jpg. The blue line is the state territorial boundary.

Just read the following quote and it fits the photo well.

"Pretend these assholes are Martians, with little antennae and a Mother Ship parked somewhere, and they're taking over your community. What would you do then? Still discuss the matter politely with your county commissioners and governor and town board? Still "follow the usual channels"? Hell no! You'd take to the barricades and the streets and shout to these commissioners, "Hey, wake up! We've been invaded!")" - Calvin

Well, color is all about the lighting so I put up another one that's back lit. I suppose though, no matter how you light them, they aren't going to turn green.

Exactly! And, did you notice, They're not green!

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
