Germany is chronically stuck in “green” insanity. Prognosis: very poor.

Germany has gone to arguably insane lengths to go green when it comes to generating electricity. Not only is the country commiting economic suicide with its Energiewende, it is also undergoing ecological suicide in some regions. One example is the destruction of virgin, fairy tale forests, such as the Reinhardswald in the state of Hesse.

The Blackout News article highlights a viral warning from retired forester fJosef Erhard.

Speaking out against a planned wind energy zone in his former district within the Bavarian Forest, Erhard leverages decades of boots-on-the-ground experience to shed light on a side of the green transition that many city-dwellers and politicians rarely see.

Incredibly destructive

Many people assume that putting a wind turbine in a forest simply means clearing a small circle for the mast. Erhard warns that the reality of the construction phase is incredibly destructive.

To transport components like 80-meter-long rotor blades and to bring in heavy-duty cranes, existing narrow logging trails must be drastically widened. New access roads with massive turning radiuses have to be bulldozed straight through the trees, ditches built to divert water away, turning quiet woodlands into heavy-construction zones.

“Wind power in the forest: that means forest clearing/deforestation,” reports Blackout News.

Irreversible forest floor destruction

Rich soil is the foundation of a healthy forest, and Erhard emphasizes that the damage done here is permanent – it cannot be reversed. The sheer weight of construction vehicles causes severe soil compaction. Once compressed to this degree, the earth loses its ability to absorb rainwater and nurture tree roots.

Huge construction road ditches intercept and redirect rainwater and streams away from the downside forest, damaging the biotope.  Furthermore, each turbine requires a massive reinforced concrete foundation dug deep into the earth—structures that will remain buried long after the turbine’s lifespan is over. These too massively interfere with the biotope’s water supply system.

Unviable environment 

Forests aren’t just collections of trees; they are complex ecosystems. The area slated for development is a known habitat for protected species, including lynxes, wildcats, bats, and birds of prey.

While forests can naturally recover from storms or beetle infestations, Erhard points out that clearing land for wind energy permanently transforms natural habitats into industrial zones. He pulled no punches regarding the threat to wildlife, grimly referring to the spinning blades as “shredders” for birds and insects.

Water pollution

Forests act as giant natural sponges and filters, playing a critical role in replenishing groundwater and securing local drinking water. Erhard warns that digging deep trenches for power cables, carving out roads, and compacting the soil disrupts natural water flow patterns. In high-altitude ridge lines, this could have devastating consequences for downslope water tables and community water supplies.

Massscale damage and no benefit

Finally, the veteran forester questions whether wind power in forests is actually as sustainable as marketed. He points to the environmental impact of microplastic shedding from the rotor blades, the risk of hydraulic oil leaks, and the carbon footprint of global supply chains required to source the thousands of tonnes of turbine materials.

Furthermore, he notes that regions like southern Germany are notoriously low-wind areas, meaning these projects are often heavily dependent on government subsidies while still requiring conventional power grids to back them up when the wind dies down.

Josef Erhard urges policymakers to rigorously weigh the actual energy output of these turbines against the irreversible, long-term destruction of our natural carbon sinks, biodiversity, and drinking water resources.

Not mentioned in the Blackout News article are the local climatic impacts that turbines have. Studies have shown that air speed on the leeward side of the turbines causes the airt temperature to rise, which would only contribute to drying out the forest whose water system has already been severely damaged by the contruction.

In short, you can’t get more environmentally-criminally negligent than this source of power.

Net-zero by 2050 to-reduce CO2 is a super-expensive suicide pact, to:

1) increase command/control by governments, and

2) enable the moneyed elites to become more powerful and richer, at the expense of all others, by using the foghorn of the government-subsidized/controlled Corporate Media to spread scare-mongering slogans and brainwash people, already for at least 50 years.

CO2, just 0.042% in the atmosphere, is a weak absorber of a small fraction of the absorbable, low-energy IR photons.
CO2 has near-zero influence on world surface temperatures.

CO2 is a life-giving molecule. Greater CO2 ppm in atmosphere is an essential ingredient to:

1) increase green flora and fauna, reduce desert areas, such as the Sahara, and

2) increase crop yields to better feed 8 billion people.

 

According to John Clauser, 2022 Nobel Physics Price recipient, “Atmospheric CO2 and methane have negligible effect on the climate. The policies government have been implementing are totally unnecessary and should be eliminated. The dominant process is “the cloud-sunlight-reflexivity thermostat” mechanism. Clouds are bright white, reflect 90% of the sunlight back into space, are the most crucial aspect of the climate system. Oceans are 70% of the Earth surface. The Pacific Ocean alone is 50%. The average cloud cover for the Earth is 67%; about 50% over land and 75% over oceans.”

 

At About 30% Annual W/S Electricity on the Grid, Various Costs Increase Exponentially

The W/S systems uglify the countryside, kill birds and bats, whales and dolphins, fisheries, tourism, view-sheds, etc.

The weather-dependent, variable/intermittent W/S output, often too-little and often too-much, creates grid-disturbing difficulties that become increasingly more challenging and more costly (c/kWh) to counteract, as proven by the UK and California for the past 5 years, and Germany for the past 10 years, and recently in Spain/Portugal.

All have “achieved” near-zero, real- growth GDPs, the highest electricity prices (c/kWh) in the EU, and stagnant real wages for almost all people, while further enriching the moneyed elites who live in the poshest places.

Native People Suffer Extra Burdens: Their angry, over-taxed, over-regulated native populations, already burdened by the wind/solar/batteries nonsense, and then further burdened by do-good bureaucrat and self-serving moneyed elites bringing in tens of millions of uninvited, unvetted, uneducated, unskilled, ghetto-trash, crime-prone, poor folks, from dysfunctional countries.

Minimal Temperature Change due to CO2: The climate is not any different, even though, atmosphere CO2 increased from 280 ppm in 1850 to 420 ppm in 2025, 50% in 175 years. During that time, world surface temps increased by at most 1.5 C +/- 0.25 C, of which:

1) Urban heat islands account for about 65% (0.65 x 1.5 = 0.975 C) of the warming, such as the UHI of about 700 miles, from north of Portland, Maine, to south of Norfolk, Virginia, forested in 1850, now covered with heat-absorbing human detritus, plus the waste heat of fuel burning.

BTW, the 1850 surface temp measurements were only in a few locations and mostly inaccurate, +/- 0.5 C.

The 1979-to-present temp measurements (46 years) cover most of the earth surface and are more accurate, +/- 0.25 C, due to NASA satellites.

The reason costs are ballooning is because the focus has been on the cost of offshore wind electricity, say 15 c/kWh, after the equivalent of 50% federal and state subsidies.

But then there is the A-to-Z cost (windmill system to land fill) almost all folks ignore. Those costs are about 11 c/kWh. 

 

The European elites have screwed themselves by going hog-wild for wind, solar, batteries, etc.

They closed their near-zero-CO2 nuclear plants, and their coal plants 

 

Because of grossly too many rules and regulations emanating from Brussels, and a lack of nuclear plant building experience, all recent nuclear plants cost more than $10,000/installed MW and take 10+ years to build; China builds such plant at half the cost and in less than half the time.

No wonder Europe has become uncompetitive.

 

These dysfunctional elites are encouraging the displacement of native populations. A total of 64.2 million unvetted, uneducated, untrained, non-citizens were in Europe at end 2025 (not counting their children and grandchildren born in Europe). They are the dregs from mostly Islamic Third World countries by end 2025 (at an A-to-Z cost of $160 billion for 2025. How will Europe ever get rid of these people, before its rapidly growing population is greater than the shrinking population of natives?

 

And more recently:

These elites imposed a ban on Russian low-cost fossil fuels and other natural resources much needed by Europe, so Russia cannot profit from them; the sanctions backfired on Europe.

 

After NATO was established, European elites, dependent for defense on the US, saved themselves $trillions by spending only 0.5 to 1.5% of GDP on their own defense, while the US spent about 4 to 5% to keep the peace in the world.

How can you claim to be sovereign and not be able to defend yourself?

 

That grossly inequitable situation came to a screeching halt in 2025, when Trump required Europe to spend up to 5% of GDP for their own defense, because the US was “busy elsewhere”. 

Trump imposed tariffs on European imports to reduce the US trade deficit, will reduce US troops and their costs in Europe, requires Europe pay for its own defense, no longer wants to pay for Ukraine, but will provide US weaponry, if Europe pays for them.

 

Per US Bureau of Economic Analysis, foreign entities had US holdings (all kinds) of $70.54 trillion and US entities had foreign holdings (all kinds) of $42.96 trillion, a gap of $27.54 trillion, at end 2025.

The growth of this gap led to the Rust Belt; Watt Street-brokered buyouts of US companies by foreign companies, Dutch/Belgium Agri-businesses owning more than 50% of all US food supermarkets in the eastern US, to provide self-space for European products, etc.

Income paid to foreign entities on their US holdings was $6.26 trillion in 2025,income paid to US entities on their foreign holdings was $5.15 trillion in 2025,for a net outflow of $1.11 trillion in 2025; outflows get bigger as gaps get bigger.

 

NOTE: The largest creditor nations at end 2025 were Germany $4.24 trillion; China $4.0 trillion; Japan $3.5 trillion.

Net zero by 2050 Euro elites tried to weaken the US, with help of the unpatriotic, leftist Biden clique, into going down the black hole of 30,000 MW by 2030 of expensive, highly subsidized, weather-dependent, grid-disturbing offshore windmill systems, which would need expensive, highly subsidized, short-lived, battery systems for grid support.

If little wind and solar, aka DUNKELFLAUTE, there is near-zero output of wind and solar, and a large fleet of OTHER plants, must provide the missing electricity up to demand, 24/7/365.

If the OTHER plants are insufficient, electricity needs to be imported at highwholesale prices

If too much wind and solar, much of the electricity needs to be exported at low wholesale prices

These OTHER plants must be fueled, staffed, kept in good working order to instantly provide what is missing. 

The more wind and solar tied to the expanded/reinforced/more complex grid, the more OTHER plants.

THAT TWO-SYSTEM COMPLEXITY DOES NOT COME FOR FREE.

 

Offshore wind full cost of electricity FCOE = 30 c/kWh + 11 c/kWh = 41 c/kWh, no subsidies

Offshore wind full cost of electricity FCOE = 15 c/kWh + 11 c/kWh = 26 c/kWh, 50% subsidies

Hidden Costs: Filling-in capacity, balancing capacity, counteracting capacity, grid extension/reinforcement, etc., about 11 c/kWh; powerplant to landfill basis. 

This compares with 7 c/kWh + 3 c/kWh = 10 c/kWh from existing gas, coal, nuclear, large reservoir hydro plants.

Some values increase due to inflation and as more W/S systems are added to the grid.

Such expensive W/S electricity would have made the US even less competitive in world markets.

Any US tariffs on the European supply of wind systems would greatly increase their turnkey capital costs/MW and their electricity costs/ kWh.

.

Almost the entire supply of the wind projects would be:

1) designed and made in Europe,

2) then transported across the Atlantic Ocean by European specialized ships,

3) then unloaded at new, taxpayer-financed, $500-million storage/pre-assembly/staging/barge-loading areas,

4) then barged to European specialized erection ships for erection of the windmill systems.

5) The financing would be mostly by European pension funds, that pay benefits to European retirees.

Hundreds of people in each seashore state would have jobs during the erection phase

The other erection jobs would be by specialized European people, mostly on cranes and ships

Hundreds of people in each seashore state would have long-term O&M jobs, using mostly European spare parts, during the 20-y electricity production phase.

Conglomerates owned by Euro elites would finance, build, erect, own and operate almost all of the 30,000 MW of offshore windmills, providing work for many thousands of European workers for decades, and multi-$billion profits each year.

Trump-hating, Euro elites are furious. Projects are being cancelled. The European windmill industry is in shambles, with multi-$billion annual losses, lay-offs and tens of $billions of stranded costs.
