I personally know the owner of the sporting camp on Hot Brook Lake! George Smith is an outright liar to say the turbines are "well received" in any way. The owner disclosed that he has lost $20,000 to $30,000 PER YEAR because of the wind project!

Industrial Wind and the  Wall Street Cap adn Trade Fraud via cohoctonwindwatch:

http://citizenpoweralliance.wordpress.com/industrial-wind-and-the-w...

"To illustrate this point the pending First Wind Holdings Inc. SEC S-1 and S-1A application for an IPO readily admits that producing electricity it is not necessary to be profitable."

"it appears that the only hope that wind energy would become economically competitive with traditional energy sources is if the cost of electricity from traditional sources were driven much higher – with all the adverse impacts on electric customers and local and national economies that result from high electricity prices.”

Good article..wind power guarantees power bills to be much higher..check for Maine

Power doesn't have to be produced for First Wind to make money..check for Maine

WE demand that our lawmakers to be honest with us. This is about revenues for the state of Maine..not clean energy. Revenues from a corporation which will say anything and do anything for their subsidies with no compunction for honesty or respect for environmental / human costs.

Maybe we should change our nickname from the Pine Tree State to the Astroturf State.

The insidious fake buzz and word of mouth is getting a bit out of hand.

Of course George Smith is not the only blogger with a backer. See Adam Lachman has a job.

I posted this comment:

You did a good job of covering George Smith covering his a--, but he is not innocent of simple forgetfulness. He is too wily for that. Its too bad this article didn't include a few excerpts from the comments posted on his blog. The comments reveal a lot of background.

The sad truth is that all media in Maine have been totally biased in favor of pushing the wind industry's propaganda and stifle the growing citizen criticism of the destruction of Maine's magnificent natural resources and unique "Quality of Place". The wind industry targeted the editorial staffs of all the Maine media as well as the Baldacci administration. There has been no investigative piece on this contoversial, multi-faceted issue of proliferation of industrial wind turbines that are totally unreliable, produce less than 25% of capacity and are driving electricity prices up in a region that does not need the fickle trickle of power from them.

They never mentioned how many trees it will take. I think we should be allowing the forests to grow to clean the air. It sounds like another misinformed political scheme. I wonder how many billions the auto industry has spent to build cleaner cars, only to find out the insiders want us all driving electric golf carts? Efficiency and cutting back extravagant lifestyles would cure the climate concerns.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
