The Sierra Club on COVID-19

"We can expect to see a fourth stimulus package in the coming weeks. In any new stimulus, we will continue to fight for funding to support health and economic relief for all, accessible transportation, climate progress, and clean energy industries. The Sierra Club will advocate for legislation that creates family-sustaining jobs by building resilient, green infrastructure, and for measures that increase funding for voting reforms to strengthen the political voice of the people. As always, we will continue to fight against any bailout for corporate polluters and seek funding to protect our environment and help vulnerable communities. Our response to one existential crisis must not fuel another. "

Keep up the good fight, Sandy.

Wow, Penny. I don't usually get replies from my comments except from the paid-to-troll people who mock people who have experienced the wind turbine environment. I first heard some of the significant problems with these units back in '93 at Florida Power Corporation. Then, my husband's rant in 2004 against wind turbines proved to be exactly on target. Now, trying to protect our property under a very dubious political process that forced the 'Golden West' project over our heads in 2015 gave us first-hand experience on how irrational and irresponsible proponents of wind can be. It has only gotten worse, except that some projects of this kind have been stopped and we have at least one leader now that seems to understand.

I am with you. Thank you so much!

Thank you, Sandy Wolfe.  Your "rant" is much appreciated and well stated.  We need more people who seek the truth and who aren't afraid to face the consequences of saying, "We were wrong about this."  Good business IS a beautiful thing. What we have right now, with the industrial wind lobby, is an economic and ecological nightmare.  How do we get our leaders to call a moratorium when so many billions of dollars have already been shoveled into this clever money making scheme, and so many others want to believe that this clever scheme is going to save the planet?

The AWEA has a lot of nerve tagging their dangerous and woefully inadequate equipment onto a relief package intended to help an American public in danger of bodily damage or death. If they really want to help all they have to do is shut down their large three-bladed monsters and another epidemic is nipped in the bud. Meanwhile, they will help the economy and environment by relieving the American public of an unfriendly debt and relieving the land of a dangerously polluting burden.

Now, in a cruel twist of fate, the COVID-19 problem and lockdown (at least in our state) is tying the fate of wind turbine project residents to a stay-at-home requirement that compromises their ability to flee their home when the project blades are turned their way.

The evidence for bodily damage from industrial wind turbines has been known for a long time. Like COVID-19 people with some underlying conditions are at bigger risk for unexpected death. Like COVID-19 they attack the autoimmune system, which ironically may take every body down the road to immune system failure. Like COVID-19 they attack the cardiovascular system and lungs (as well as, in the case of the wind turbines, attacking the other organs in the body through the above impacts compounded with tissue growth that buffers the organs but impedes their ability to function), again, setting up the body for catastrophic failure. This is a short list of information on the subject.

This site and Lisa Linowes have excellently covered economic impacts. On top of the lies, problems and cost, look at all the skilled workers that would be freed up to pursue better jobs. Although this is anecdotal to some people, personal interviews with wind energy workers have revealed many of them, and most of the workers actually in the wind turbine fields for any length of time, would prefer to be doing other work, acknowledging themselves the sheer wrongness of the 'industry' in general.

People intimate with the long-bladed wind turbine environment know some of the environmental impacts. Microwaves and other EMF permeating the soil and eventually detectable on the surface of the land, oil emission into the land and water, vibrations causing such problems as building foundation and septic system cracks and, in some cases, leading to new radon problems in people's homes (how is that going to set the home up for resale?), infrasound (frequencies from 0-1Hz and ranging up to 10-20Hz) pulse cones off the blades at damaging power levels traveling significant distances infecting regions and homes ... Again, this is a short list and affects more than just the grumpy non-participant. One can watch the antelope who used to graze the wind turbine fields (they have learned) carefully passing upwind of the units on their way to better pasture or see the flock of birds turn around from their northerly migration and return from whence they came to avoid the cone from a turbine field (those are the lucky ones) or experience the Lark Bunting and prairie rabbits become a rare sight and know a tip of the ecological 'iceberg' is showing.

Well, this may seem like a rant but it is a short catalog of real experiences. Rather than have 'leaders' tout this equipment while pretending to help the public it is really time for those leaders to say yes to a moratorium while the wind industry, equipment and fields (on- or off-shore) are studied from top to bottom. In our state this became a partisan issue and we, the public, lost. It is not properly a partisan issue, however, just like COVID-19 it is a matter of learning the difference between poor and good health for the USA (and, in the case of these wind turbines, the US electric grid when wind 'power' incentives are removed from the spreadsheet).

Thank you. We all want to learn the truth. Good business is a beautiful thing.

Thank you AOC, your ridiculous "New Green Deal" is convincing even the democrats to shun big wind and solar.

Pelosi presented a 1400 page House virus bill.

Such a large bill does not get written overnight.

A dozen or more lawyers must have been working on it behind the scenes.

She must have been planning and working on it for weeks, with all the wind and solar lobbies dancing around to make sure their subsidies would be  included, and they were.

She was feigning co operation with the the negotiators of the Senate bill

Then, at the last minute, boom, she has her own bill; CRASS

It is remarkable, she would be so stupid to include them in a bill that had nothing to do with wind and solar.

She shows a total commitment to life-threatening obstructionism in any form and at all times; RELENTLESS

Long Islander,

Thank you for posting the collection of URLs.

Wind, solar and hydro have been ferocious in pursuit of prolonging subsidies.

Thety were totally spoiled under Obama, who wasted billions on solar projects in the US southwestthat went broke, had federal loan guarantee

All others were left holding the bag, but the banks got paid.

Hannah Pingree on the Maine expedited wind law

"Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine."

That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
