The Ball is Tossed to Philip Bartlett III. Will he screw Maine Electricity Customers Again?
Is ISO-NE saying NESCOE holds all the responsibility and final decision for the $2.2 billion dollar upgrade that ISO-NE solicited bids for?
"NESCOE’s request is aimed at upgrading the transmission system between northern Maine, where land-based wind generation is expected to increase, and the more populous regions of southern New England, where demand for electricity is highest. The ISO completed its evaluation of proposals in summer 2026. NESCOE now has several months to decide whether to move ahead with the ISO’s selection of the preliminary preferred project." This idea of moving electricity long distances came from Philip Bartlett III. Thomas Edison, father of America's electricity, must be turning over in his grave. Number one in any electricity plan is to keep generation plants close to demand to alleviate line losses and cost of transmission infrastructure.
ISO-NE, as system operator, has a duty to adhere to Mr. Edison's rule and, now wants to make Philip Bartlett III the accountible person of interest for this debacle.
This is all about politics. Bartlett was appointed as Manager of NESCOE by Governor Janet Mills. He will be held accountable as he decides whether to go forward with this expensive boondoggle. The ball is in his court. Are you reading this, Bobby Charles?
