Will It Come to This??? Shooting Up Wind Turbines???
First, let me say I believe we are a nation of laws and I believe it is against the law and morally wrong to destroy someone's property. But the "Wind Law" foisted upon us by Baldacci in 2008 and protected from any change whatsoever by the Democrats who sold out to the Wind Industry is one of the worst pieces of special interest legislation ever enacted. It results in the proliferation of sprawling industrial wind turbines and ruination of Maine's natural and scenic resources.
I am frankly surprised that remote wind turbines in places like Kibby and Stetson have not succumbed to stray bullets from hunters. Or from people simply bent on vandalism of a huge target. Or someone just so damned angry about the impact of wind turbines that they let their good judgement slip. I hope we in Maine will never reach that point. Since more than 40 communities have said NO to wind power by enacting local ordinances, we have forced wind power further out into less developed parts of Maine's uplands, similar to the location in this news article from Montana.
Note in the article, it talks about the crime of shooting up a wind turbine, with not a mention as to why someone might do this--the crime of imposing wind turbines on a population that doesn't want them.
