How can anyone who has spent any time in Maine conjure up an idea of transforming the top of the state’s mountains into a place for giant industrial generators ?. This is embarrassing to us who have worked diligently to clean up our environment for the past 40 years. From this resolve, We have come to see our state for it’s beauty , shining forth through the lakes, streams, shorelines and, yes, our mountains too.
Is this the right course for Maine ? Do wind machines really fit here ? We have recovered our rivers from industrial and municipal pollution . We have cleaned our soil of hazardous chemicals. Our environmental conscious is alert now , thanks to these great accomplishments. Never did we expect to see the day our mountains would be forsaken for others to gain an advantage needlessly deserved.
Please take the time to think about where we are as a state, our visions as we move forward, our goals which sets us apart from other states and our people who radiate with pride knowing our pristine scenery is the envy of many not so lucky to be here.

Hillbillyredneck - I'm sorry, but this site is essentially a gathering place for persons who are concerned with stopping the corporately well financed assault on this state of outsized industrial wind turbines that have turned many of our lives as we knew them upside down. Please read about this in "About Us". It is not a site to be implying we have groundless concerns and name calling because you apparently disagree with us. It is not a site to be confrontational and waste our time with arguing with trolls. Our precious time and energies are better spent on our mission.

Dan, There was an old silent movie called GREED by Eric von Stroheim. (1924) You may have seen it or heard about it.
Greed makes people insane. I say this because I can't think of anything else for the motive that is driving the Industrial Wind people. True, some may be doing it because they have been hoodwinked by the propaganda, but good lord, can't they think for themselves?
People all over the world come here for something they can't get anywhere else, or for something they have lost. A cabbie in London told me how much he loves to visit Maine. He told me, "Hold on to what you have. We didn't and now we have lost most of our countryside."

The wind industry thought it could just slip these things in with no resistance. They calculated that by making false promises of jobs and wealth, that people would fall right into place. The citizenry is now growing wiser to them by the day and they can feel the walls coming in on them. Their primary miscalculation: that the Maine people would put money, (and the false promise thereof) above all other values as they do.

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
