From today's Maine Sunday Telegram:

The tightening gap between LePage and his challengers in the head-to-head matchups began to show in the September poll. Since then, Smith said, “I don’t think there’s been anything to change that sense of momentum for LePage or that sense of decline for Michaud.”

Think,
Yes, RGGI has to go, along with a lot of other deals made by the New England Governors and Maritime provinces - deals like the agreements for huge long-term contracts to meet the unrealistic RPS of the smaller southern New England states. So when the next term starts, make the Governor introduce transparency into the energy "policies" formed behind closed doors regionally as well as for the state of Maine. No doubt Sen. Collins supports PTC and other subsidies for wind energy because it is supposedly a net gain of federal dollars for Maine. But if the capital investment always touted goes out of state, often out of country (where does Vestas make the V117s it wants to string on Maine mountains?) and the tax credits go to companies based in Boston or Houston, is it a net gain? I think not.

Susan Collins is definitely a friend of wind power.

correction...Sheena Bellows answered a question on energy policy for ME, solar energy first and went on to say that Germany has less sun than ME and it works well there.

No accident. Germany issued low interest loans for solar which were quickly paid back with savings by rate payers.

Senate race on MPBN today.  When answering a question on energy, she stated solar, geo thermal first ...then tidal power and properly sited land based wind farms. Susan Collins is a big wind farm proponent. And has been from the start. Unusual for her party, but true nevertheless.

RGGI must be stopped, along with the unicorn it rode in on.

There was a good investigative article a couple months ago showing all the wind money in this race.  There's no question Michaud would be a wind apologist.  See the article here:   http://www.friendsofmainesmountains.org/fmm/2014/9/11/why-are-texan...

The donor list, i.e. the states of donors, sure speaks volumes about how much the wind industry is supporting MAINE jobs (Kurt) and MAINE economy. Pretty pitiful amounts, though, considering. Could that be because even with LePage as Governor the aggressive RGGI goals, transmission and pipeline build-outs and the cost shifts to ratepayers continue unabated??

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
