PROTEST: Members of the Irasburg Ridgeline Alliance gathered 421 signatures for a petition that urges the Irasburg Selectboard to oppose industrial wind development on Kidder Hill “by all possible means.”

IRASBURG, Vt. — The ongoing clash between Vermonters and Big Wind is set for a slugfest Thursday night as Irasburg residents will attempt a protest vote against two 500-foot wind turbines to be sited atop the ridgeline of nearby Kidder Hill.

In a special Selectboard meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Irasburg’s Town Hall, voters will cast ballots to answer the following question: “Shall Kidder Hill, or any other ridgelines of the town of Irasburg, Vermont, be used for development by industrial wind turbine projects?”

A no vote would be a setback for David Blittersdorf, whose Kidder Hill Community Wind company plans to construct the 5-megawatt electricity-generating towers to provide power for approximately 2,100 homes in the area.

I might have access to a big trailer, if my son doesn't have a vehicle sitting on it or lent it out at the very time it is needed.  Might have an experienced sign designer we could get to do her magic. Do you have a time or place in mind or just something on standby ready to put in service when wanted? Guess Veteran's Day parades might not be appropriate or permitted?

I'll donate $100 to get started.

especially than in a state like vermont ,Democracy (

power to the people ) should mean something .....if it does not, Vermont 's reputation as a socialist state would be just a cover for well oiled cronyism.

Action is better than words, and Vermonters TAKE ACTION like a large movable sign.

Email and editor letters have limited value when your competing against the wind industry and the Sierra Club with its well-oiled lobbying machine---action alert, embedded letter writing utility, automatic send to elected representatives, and linked in background papers.

One big sign and protesters with signs ALWAYS get media attention...it worked for P.R.O.P, Affordable health care and other groups.

Make the sign and forget about a paltry letter writing campaign.

Paula indeed , Vermont is the home of self induced CO 2 guru Bill McKibben :www.billmckibben.com

Governor Peter shumlin is Baldacci reincarnated ,  Bernie Sanders , ex mayor of Burlington , and US Congressman for Vermont running now for POTUS considers global warming the biggest threat to the USA .....and  the Vermont legislature just voted  a  renewable energy law on steroid ( House Bill 40  (  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jun/11/vermont-governor-to... ) but the voices are mounting and some politicians are paying attention .

The end of the article where the wind spokesperson says basically that they will prevail because 'people want a cleaner, energy independent future'.  That's it in a nutshell with why it has been so hard to get the public to stand up to the wind scam. I wish there was such a simple answer, just switch to wind and solar and no more sons, daughters go to fight in the mideast. No more respiratory illness, no more cancer, no more fearsome climate change that's going to wash us all into the ocean. This is a complicated problem and everyone wants a simple solution, but wind turbines aren't it. All those who want us to suck it up and take one for the greater good, poor deluded patsies. Why can't we all put our heads together and come up with some better ways to move us down the road to energy efficiency and sustainability? Oh, yeah, subsidies, tax breaks, and greed. I forget.

So who is donating a trailer and materials & labor to make a towable sign to take to Maine Town Meetings? FMM has the money and guilt, don't they?

Rather overwhelming!  Who gave the anti-wind side of the story to these citizens?  We should use their methods and information because clearly it worked.  The other side has gotten the upper hand here time after time.  This would put an end to wind in Maine if every town and unorganized territory got the same message and would make this kind of vote.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
