The PUC MUST Represent the Public Interest, Not the Shills of Wind in Maine

Mainers could start to benefit from real competition in the electricity market .

The subsidized high cost lies from the wind lobby and the lying sleazeballs of "Enronesque" First Wind would soon be under  close PUC analysis.
If  soon to be data wonk in the Maine PUC, Dr. Bruce Williamson, runs the numbers on wind energy as a PUC commissioner, look out Big Wind in Maine!
First Wind and the wind lobby never can stand close scrutiny based on facts and cost benefit ,ever.
Dr. Williamson would  do just that, and they knew it . (It would be nice to see those e-mails between Littell and SunEdison and some legislators   right about now)!
No more inside wind supporters like ex-PUC commissioner Kurt Adams (greasing his way into First Wind as  a VP ) and PUC wind shill David Littell ,greasing wind project skids.
First Wind and others would no longer benefit from crony-capitalistic inside decision making made by Baldacci's stooges of his Wind Task Force of 2008 ,(where all decisions were behind closed doors), as wind was pushed under PL-661 (Expedited Wind Law).
The PUC review of projects under control of LePage appointees would  be for the benefit of Mainers , not for the lying stooges and crony capitalistic subsidy seeking green lying thieves of the Wind Mafia in Maine.
This  potential new commissioner appears to use data and facts in his analysis of energy decisions, not payoffs, hence , the rebuff of inside pro wind players Maine.

Just check the date of the below article, and what has transpired since then. The pressure was on the self- servers and shills to produce for the wind lobby, and they may have  indeed done so.

Here is what I heard Bruce Williamson say in his hearing.  He would make decisions:

Based on empirical data

That make sound economic sense

For the people of Maine and the ratepayers.

He further said that Maine is in an enviable position because we have so many renewable energy choices: Hydro, including tidal hydro, biomass, solar, wind.  Is there any wonder that the Democrats are worried?  It is Dawn Hill and other Democrats who are politicizing this PUC choice - Not LePage!!

At a time that PUC nominee Bruce Williamson has been stalled by the EUT, with co-chair Mark Dion describing a "crisis of confidence" surrounding the PUC, maybe this is an opportune time to shine a light on the PUC's Kurt Adams era, arguably a crisis of confidence gaming. (Kurt Adams, the man who lobbied for the Maine Power Reliability Project (MPRP), the $1.5 billion ratepayer-funded gift to his future employer First Wind).

The new PUC simply needs to look back at costs and benefits and they will quickly begin encountering anomalies that should trigger a full blown investigation of the wind industry in Maine.

You are absolutely correct in your assessment relating to Bruce Williamson's perspective on decision making - and his role as a public official - I heard that loud and clear when he was testifying in the EUT hearing - In my view it would shut down the craziness (and hopefully wind) related to energy policy pretty quickly and bring some clear thinking to the mix - I am sure that is what the Democrats don't want!

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
