The Failure of COP29, and the Demise of "Net Zero by 2050 and the Green Agenda"

The Failure of COP29, and the Demise of "Net Zero by 2050 and the Green Agenda"

.

Following the conclusion of the multilateral climate conference COP29, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the atmosphere is one of defeat.

.

.

Nearly an entire week of speeches and endless meetings did not suffice to reach a reasonable consensus on a series of practical measures that had been anticipated.

Specifically, the debate on funding climate policies sank.

The so-called “developing countries” had expected an annual grant policy exceeding $1 trillion/y for energy transition and climate change mitigation policies, but only $300 billion/y will be allocated—optimistically.

Moreover, this sum will not necessarily be in the form of grants, but may include loans and other financing mechanisms that bring interest and debt.

.

India denounced the final result of COP29, supported by Bolivia, Cuba, and Nigeria, as a farce and an insult from developed countries to developing nations.

This financing debate will now be deferred to COP30, scheduled to take place in Brazil in 2025.

However, the chances of COP30 succeeding where COP29 failed are very slim.

.

While climate alarmism and eco-globalism are part of Brazil’s official ideology, in the rest of the world, these post-modern beliefs have lost momentum.

Take, for example, the reasons why expanding funding for the “Green Agenda” has been impossible in “developed countries.”

Observing European governments’ behavior since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, one can see increasing popular opposition regarding advancing energy transition, and net-zero by 2050 carbon policies, and pay for the proxy war in Ukraine, and pay for increased NATO expenses.

.

Germany, for instance, was once one of the main drivers of climate alarmism worldwide, even closing its nuclear power plants “for the environment” (despite nuclear plants being far less polluting than most other energy sources).

Yet today, facing an energy crisis caused by the ill-conceived ENERGIEWENDE, Germany is reopening its coal-fired power plants.

.

Sweden, long a leader in international climate activism, has reversed many of its previous Net-zero and environmental measures.

The Ministry of the Environment has been dismantled, and the government now prioritizes ensuring low-cost energy, such as hydro and nuclear.

.

In the UK, the previous administration of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak suspended the ban on diesel car sales and decided to stop promoting the replacement of gas heaters.

Similar examples can be found in several other countries.

.

Clearly, ill-conceived sanctions, and losing the lucrative Russian market, and the high costs of wind and solar electricity and batteries, etc., have increased living costs beyond the breaking point, convincing European governments to roll back many environmental measures, and curb their insane, unscientific scare-mongering about global climate.

.

This retreat by European nations will accelerate, because, starting in 2025, the United States will be governed by Donald Trump, who holds a critical stance toward subsidizing wind, solar, batteries, heat pumps and EVs, all of which increase living costs.

He is determined to drill, baby, drill, and to increase coal, oil and gas production.

This is corroborated by the nominations of Chris Wright as Secretary of Energy and Lee Zeldin to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

.

In Brazil, the media has revealed, the socialist Lula administration fears a lackluster COP30 in 2025, based on the lack of results of COP29.

Brazilian are rejoicing regarding the Amazon Region, meaning continued clearcutting for ranching and cropping, and exploration for oil in the Equatorial Margin.

.

Brazil’s official insistence on adhering to the “Green Agenda” is puzzling, considering the Agenda usually serves as a geo-political command/control tool favoring major powers at the expense of developing nations.

.

The green agenda usually imposes disproportionate obligations on Brazil relative to its actual contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions, which are significantly lower per capita than those of more industrialized economies.

With a predominantly renewable energy matrix, Brazil is already an example of sustainability and energy efficiency worldwide.

Approximately 84% of Brazil’s electricity is generated from clean sources, such as hydropower and biomass.

That 84% level will never be achieved by the United States (where 82% of all energy consumption is from fossil fuels), and by Germany.

.

Meanwhile, developed countries that built their wealth through the indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and environmental pollution now advocate environmental restrictions designed to limit the growth of emerging economies like Brazil.

These impositions often harm strategic sectors, such as coal, oil and gas exploration, mining, and agri-business, which are vital to national development and sovereignty.

.

We are witnessing the demise of the “Green Agenda” that has dominated global politics since 1990

The people in more and more countries have become aware a higher CO2 ppm is vital for increased flora and fauna, and crop growth, and increased greening, and reduced arid and desert areas, and that the scare-mongering associated  with the "Green Agenda/Global Warming" mantra is just an unscientific, cruel hoax:

1) to legitimize a financial scam by the western global elites to further enrich themselves, and

2) by western governments to impose new forms of command/control on all others.

Allow me to dust off an old post which is about one year old.
.
Here goes ...
.
The elites of the EU, UK, US, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, regardless of party, Republican, Democrat, Left, Right, Centrist, Far Right, Far Left, are seeing their centuries-old world hegemony slipping through their fingers.
.
They are aghast. They are terrified, and they believe WAR is the only solution.
.
Living together, peer to peer, eye to eye, with mutual respect, with the rest of the world, is WAY below their dignity.
.
They need to destroy the economies, and all economic infrastructure, of the competition, the 'enemy'.
.
RUSSIA, RICH IN DESIRABLE RESOURCES, BACKED BY CHINA, REFUSED TO GET ON BOARD WITH THIS PLAN.
.
Russia had to be WEAKENED, NEUTRALIZED, before other targets (China, etc.) could be attacked.
.
Hence, the Ukraine trap for Russia, and thereafter, the Taiwan trap for China.
.
Ukrainians, Taiwanese ..... all are just fodder for the meat grinder.
.
The elites don't give a rats ass about them.
.
And for the great 'war effort', the serf class of the EU, UK, US, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, etc., will soon be conscripted.
.
Regarding NATO troops in Ukraine,

According to Stubb, the Finnish president,

.

“We should not get ahead of ourselves.

Peacekeeping missions are based on international law, and require a peace settlement that parties abide by, and a UN mandate.

The operation cannot be launched on a shaky foundation.

A peacekeeping mission would require at least 150,000 soldiers.

In rotation, that means three times that, or 450,000 peacekeepers per year.

So perhaps this discussion has gone off the rails, so to speak,”

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
