Renewables as a moral obligation ..and a bonus for investors.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Biden told a group of investors at the White House Tuesday that clean energy is a moral and national security issue -- but also makes economic sense.

In his first public remarks since the funeral of his son Beau Biden, the vice president addressed the White House Clean Energy Investment Summit, rallying charitable groups and large investors to commit $4 billion toward clean energy technologies...

While this may be a great investment for initial builders and investors, it is not for the average ratepayer.  And if the subsidies dry up, it won't be particularly good for initial investors either.

There are two Moral obligations that come to mind. 1) Reduce energy consumption by using it more efficiently and reducing wasting it, no matter if it is green or fossil fuel or in between. 2) protection of the land which provides food, filters rain for clean water and provides oxygen all of which sustains life for all carbon based life. (there are other lifeforms on or within the earth that are not carbon based an survive on what would be toxic to us) Now that the forest industry has found a loophole in our "No Clearcut" laws (excepting for experimental forestry regrowth projects) they are fast at work going over the state yet once again. Justified in part with yet another "Green Energy" called Biomass generation. Another "Green" Immoral action to ensure that Maine is Not Green, either in vegetation and eventually in its inability to produce renewable resources in our future.

in the meantime , whether it is planetary  guilt, ideology, dysfunctional environmentalism ,rural financial despair, greed of the investors, moral corruption of the politicians, or plain lack of critical thinking from  the general population , the winds of folly and the folly of wind continue their madness and destruction of souls , spirits and land..

There's Joe the Plumber and then there's Joe the Dumber. Not the brightest bulb on the tree - like one running on wind power.

They have to rally around lies and false premises, for if there were simple free market principles involved and no opportunity to get taxpayer money or mandates, there wouldn't be a single dollar invested in this foolishness.

Poor Joe Biden, still not thinking clearly after his family tragedy. Windsprawl is a poor choice for investing pension funds, about as sensible as bundles of high risk mortgages. Time to drop emails to thr Clean Energy Summit and inform them that they are fools.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
