With more and more wind and solar systems (expensively installed and heavily subsidized), and nuclear and coal plants gone in a few years (per “zero-carbon” nutcases), the grid would become more and more unstable, unless the New England natural gas plants were kept fully staffed, fueled, in good working order, to perform service, as demanded by the NE grid operator.
As needed, those plants would counteract the variable outputs of wind and solar, to balance supply and demand, on a less than minute-by-minute basis, 24/7/365
That means more than adequate pipeline capacity and more than adequate gas/oil storage capacity near gas/oil power plants, to ensure continuous electricity service, even during prolonged hot spells in summer, and cold spells in winter.
