Massachusetts Puts the Spin on the Northern Maine Wind Project- A Sale's Pitch

HERE IS THE MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY STATEMENT OF FAKE FACTS WHICH ARE IN SMALL PRINT IN QUOTES

MY REBUTTALS ARE IN LARGE PRINT.

"Findings of Fact Based on review and analysis of the Projects’ confidential bid materials, inclusive of the Term Sheets with MPUC and the Projects’ responses to DOER questions, with support from the Evaluation Consultant, Levitan and Associates, and in consultation with the AGO, DOER makes the following findings in connection with its determination:"

 • "The two Projects selected by the MPUC provide energy benefits not only to Maine but to the whole region and system operated by Independent System Operator-New England (ISO-NE), including Massachusetts. The Projects create the greatest benefits for Maine with additional benefits to other New England states, including Massachusetts."
An interesting, selected and undefined term. "energy benefits"  Wind generates the most destructive type of energy to the grid = SUBSIDIZED ENERGY or a type of energy meant to replace more valuable forms of energy "DENSE ENERGY"
 • "The Projects increase the supply of clean energy in Maine and New England. The benefit of the additional energy increases as electric demand grows not only in Maine but across New England as the electrification of transportation and heating expands."
The project increases the supply of clean energy in Maine . This statement refers to "Renewable Energy Credits'' The Maine PUC will not make contracts for the purchase of RECs. The only governmental-recognizable method of recording any energy as "clean" is proof of purchase of RECs, a passthrough cost to the ratepayers. NO RECs, NO CLEAN CREDIT.. Maine doesn't need these clean, wind energy credits as Biomass and Hydro supply cheap and abundant RECs to Maine's portfolio, Chances are that all the RECs from this project will be bought somewhere other than Maine and won't add diddly to Maine's goals.
 • "DOER evaluated the anticipated amount of energy expected to be delivered over the life of the 20-year contract, including the availability of energy delivery to Massachusetts. Combined, the Projects deliver clean energy to Maine with power being supplied to New England in many hours. "
Simply stating that any type of energy created anywhere in New England supplies customers in New England. A "Nothingburger" statement.
 • "The Projects’ increased supply of clean energy to the region can contribute to the Commonwealth’s decarbonization goals through an increased supply of RECs available for Massachusetts to use for the Commonwealth’s RPS program."
Massachusetts needs to purchase RECs from clean energy projects built by other states because they won't allow instate onshore wind. Their proposal for offshore wind isn't looking great, either.
•" When considering the Projects’: (a) direct costs as bid; (b) the anticipated market benefits associated with the contracted energy; and (c) the forecasted indirect benefit of the Projects’ full generation and delivery, DOER anticipates it is likely that the Projects would provide positive net benefits to the ratepayers of Massachusetts levelized over the megawatt hours to be contracted by the Massachusetts EDCs."
Gambler's addiction. Will the ISO-NE prices be higher than the contract price paid for the wind project? Casino mentality
• "The Projects will provide winter energy security benefits by providing a new clean energy resource with energy production during winter months. This will displace fossil fuel resources during periods of constrained natural gas supply in the ISO NE region in the winter. This effect benefits Massachusetts and the New England region."
This project may reduce the total amount of natural gas supply at any given moment, but due to the fluctuational nature of wind, it will increase real time costs associated with constrained pipeline gas.
•" Executing an MOU with enforceable milestone commitments between the project developers and DOER will ensure that the Projects continue to make progress towards key milestones related to project site control, permitting, environmental mitigation, stakeholder engagement and other project key criteria as they proceed with project development."
If you can't convince them with brilliance, baffle them with BS.

Willem, they don't want to see the real facts and they won't let the media put forth the real facts. They would rather use taxpayer money to fund a corrupted study that spews out fake facts.

Your spreadsheets are extremely valuable to those seeking the truth and with the grid suffering from governmental interference causing bloated costs and shortages in power, they will be coming to you for the real numbers, I suspect

The legalese verbiage basically says nothing, except “trust us with fighting global warming, and you will be fine. All you have to do is pay a lot for it”

Not a word about costs/kWh as the years go by.

The spreadsheets of the projects has line by line of costs, subsidies, revenues, state and federal taxes, and the net cost/revenue for each year. I have such spreadsheets for several wind and solar projects.

why are these spreadsheets not made public to show Maine folks the extent of the screwing they are about to experience for the next 20 years

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/

Sign up today and lend your voice and presence to the steadily rising tide that will soon sweep the scourge of useless and wretched turbines from our beloved Maine countryside. For many of us, our little pieces of paradise have been hard won. Did the carpetbaggers think they could simply steal them from us?

We have the facts on our side. We have the truth on our side. All we need now is YOU.
