Maine Anti-Wind Political Corruption Book Wins Major Prize

Maine anti-wind book wins First Prize
at the New England Book Festival.

Killing Maine, by best-selling Maine author Mike Bond, has just won First Prize at the prestigious New England Book Festival. Killing Maine is set in the deeply corrupt Maine legislative process that has led to the takeover and destruction of Maine's beautiful mountains by industrial wind companies. The book is already a New England and Maine best-seller, and the Festival Prize will expand its readership throughout the state and the entire US.

Maine is already rated the second-most politically corrupt state in the US by the Gallup Poll (only Illinois is rated worse) and has been given an "F" for Political Corruption by the Center for Public Integrity. The infamous Expedited Wind Law instigated by governors Baldacci and King and backed by Maine Senator Justin Alfond and other legislators in return for payoffs from industrial wind companies is the background to Killing Maine.

Although touted as "green", industrial wind projects do not lower greenhouse gases or fossil fuel use, because wind is so erratic that fossil fuel power plants must work full time to back up wind projects. However, wind projects have enormous environmental impacts including destruction of property values, tourism, birds, bats and other wildlife, visual beauty, water quality, and all the many resources that make Maine the special place it always has been. Hundreds of Maine mountain tops have already been destroyed by wind turbines, and thousands more miles of Maine mountains are about to be destroyed.

"The corporate-political scam of wind power is the greatest environmental tragedy in Maine history," says Bond. "It is irreversibly devastating the beauty of Maine while enriching investment banks, utilities and their fully-owned legislators and other politicians. It's essential that the citizens of Maine realize what is happening, and throw out these politicians, before it is too late."

Fully complicit in this tragedy is the Spanish utility Iberdrola, owner of Central Maine Power, and the largest single recipient of federal corporate welfare funds. Iberdrola's largest shareholder is the oil-rich nation of Qatar, which is also a major supporter and funder of ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups.

Killing Maine is available in most Maine libraries and bookstores, and online nationally at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other book retailers. For more information on the industrial wind takeover of Maine, go to www.SavingMaine.com, and www.MikeBondBooks.com

II have not read this book but I am happy for Mike Bond and anyone else that tells the truth about this terrible industry sweeping across North America

My opinions about another book that  I posted in this site, Broken Wing: Birds, Blades and Broken Promises were completely wrong. I apologize to everyone for my mistake.

Back in October the author of this book, John Graves, came to me with stellar endorsements.  Now after the fact I have found there was a mix up and the endorsement was not meant for John Graves but for another person mentioned in the same email.   I was also led to believe that changes were being made to this ebook book.  After sending this guy 131 fact filled emails, I found out that he had no interest in printing the truth concerning my area of expertise, that being the wind industry's production of fraudulent studies that have produced fraudulent data.

After pressing him for weeks about issues with the book on Feb 18, The guy had to nerve to tell me the corrections were going in a another edition.

John Grave's book gave ink to the some of the worst or most unscientific wind industry related studies to come out in recent years. He mentions the bogus Pagel eagle mortality study, the ridiculous buildings/windows bird mortality study and the wind turbine mortality monopole study, but he did not explain why these highly publicized studies are so completely bogus and biased. I give the author the information that proves these studies are absurd and non scientific.

John Graves posted pages of the "Total raw counts of bird species found as fatalities at monopole wind turbines in the contiguous U.S". But he failed to mention this data or information was produced from a self reporting industry that hides over 90% of their mortality with non scientific studies. These total raw counts were taken from many years of industry studies with ridiculous infrequent searches around monopole turbines with search areas up to 50 times too small. This is not science.
Sadly John Graves took my eagle carcass data given to me by the USFWS from Altamont, and completely twisted it away from what has really happened. My hard data shows that there has been an alarming increase in the eagle carcasses now showing up under Altamont's new turbines.

John Graves gave credibility to the horrific Lewes turbine study conducted in Delaware and then said this scientific study had taken place in New Jersey . I have written about this terrible non scientific turbine study and my information about this big time killer was completely factual.

Looking back it appears that John Graves somehow thought he knew more than me about wind turbine mortality or had a deceptive agenda to explain away my research.

This is fantastic news and to have a voice like this is so important to all of those whose voices are not being heard. Mike is a true hero of our cause.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
