This may be a key item to aid in dismantling the desire to seek taxpayer funding for Wind, as a Green energy.

Reminder: A hearing is like Sworn Testimony in Court. They should be held accountable for their statements.

Note: If you plan to attend to provide testimony, you may be limited to 3 minutes, and you will need to present 25 copies of your materials (per sign I noticed, not the usual 20).

Contact: Benjamin.Frech@legislature.maine.gov to see if sign-up is required, and by what time.

ah...ask Larry Dunphy about testimony at statehouse.  WIND hired folks from all walks to lie to the honorable committee members.   It is unfair....a bill should be introduced to make sure the testimonies are not lies.     If you send them true facts; ask for receipt.  I fear the members are too busy to read your words.

If you speak before the committee, keep the following statements from Rep Dion in mind

"The fourth speaker on the government panel was Rep. Mark N. Dion (D-Portland), who is Co-Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities & Technology in the Maine Legislature.

Dion acknowledged that citizens are simply concerned with being able to stay comfortable at an affordable rate. The energy committee shares the same concerns, and these affect their investment decisions, which need to be made several years out.

After a long career in law enforcement, Dion said he will be looking for factual evidence that supports all proposals that come before the energy committee. He promised that the committee, many of whose members are new this year, will do their homework and remember who it is that they represent: the energy consumer with limited income. They plan not to enter into policy discussions with pre-determined conclusions.

Rep. Dion asked the audience to educate members of the committee on all sides of issues that are to come up before the energy committee. He and other new members of the committee are eager to learn all they can and make sure that people can afford to heat their homes affordably. Rep. Dion then asked members of the energy & utilities committee in the room to introduce themselves. He emphasized that their goal was to work in a non-partisan manner."

Maybe this is aimed at not letting that repeal happen, making it permanent. ( ? )

One has to ask if the administrative costs associated with this program is worth the effort :

As of September 18, 2013, there are 313 participants enrolled in the program supporting approximately 1,600 MWh per year of renewable generation located in Maine. The Maine program is in its infancy and is not comparable to other nationwide programs that have been established and operating for a decade or more. Based on the latest information from NREL (2010 data), the average participation rate in utility green power programs was less than 1%. The average participation rate for the largest 20 programs was 2.9%. In 2010, utility green pricing programs nationwide accounted for less than 5 million MWh of generation.

Pursuant to statute, the green power offer is repealed effective December 31, 2015 (35-A MRS § 3212-A(3)).

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
