Bingham Wind Project and MATC

BINGHAM WIND PROJECT & MATC by Tony Barrett

Copyright ? Really ? Maybe the publications header or the image. The content was published for public consumption and most likely paid for by a subscriber. The content was sold for profit......

The document that was sourced for the posting is publicly available without any visible copyright notice within the document for the text content nor the image content.

The posting did not establish nor lend to a political overtone as it is my contention that all political persuasions are complicit in this scam.

Moreover if the article itself implies political overtones it is the responsibility of its Editor to better scrutinize the publication that it puts forth for public consumption and what is written by its paid or unpaid source writer, whether copyrighted or not.

As I  comply to your request, it will not be without leaving your message in its stead, and relocating the article in its PDF format to another venue as a downloadable document.

Your organization expect freedom of the press and desires the broadcasting of your agenda, but deny freedom to read. Very Oppressive. In the future be careful, there are no more take-backs.

MATC is Pro-Appalachian Trail, Not Anti-Wind Power Both the MATC and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy support significant increases in renewable energy including wind power. Its policies are to site projects appropriately, to design them to minimize impacts to the natural landscape near the AT, and to protect the AT experience.

So long as it is not in view of the AT, it seems Wind Power is fine with these Organizations.
I believe that is a defined position !
But still this is not a political issue, but an issue of Quality of Life for Maine's Citizens and those forced to sacrifice for others that WILL NOT sacrifice or conserve for themselves first.

I think a review of:

http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#107
http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#106a

http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ66.pdf

and a few others is in order. The constant filing fees for each article or publication can be cost prohibitive for a Non-Profit. I know I can not afford to file a copyright claim for protection on my works. $85 per filing ? Even at a special rate for Quarterly is out of my price range, since I do not receive any donations, or other financial consideration in my NON PROFIT work.

I once received an email from a fake wind industry biologist to cease and desist. The reason was because I had exposed his studies and opinions for what they were, pure garbage that fit in very neatly with wind industry interests. The email I received can be seen below. Several months later this biologist, paid handsomely for his bogus research.  was convicted of a Federal crime.                                                                                                                                                                            http://eastcountymagazine.org/eagle-expert-bittner-sentenced-probat...

Subject: Your quoting WRI incorrectly about Golden Eagles
                                                                                                                                                                Jim Weingard,

Jim, we have not met, that I’m aware of, but you are quoting Wildlife Research Institute, Inc.  (WRI) as if we are advocating for eagles being killed. This is absolutely not true and you need to Cease and Desist immediately or you will force us to take legal action. We are not sure what your sources are for quoting us or our research but we have never released anything that at all implies anything even close to what you are advocating.

WRI does research and surveys over large areas of the Western United States in our studies of Golden Eagles. For over 25 years we have worked to learn more about Golden Eagles and study what is causing declines and advocating for protecting this species. We provide our studies to Federal and State agencies that oversee land management issues and wildlife species like Golden Eagles. The Agencies are the only legal entity that can ultimately do anything to enforce and protect the Golden Eagle.

Sometimes our reports are released or provided through other large consultation firms that are contracted by Wind or Solar development corporations that may provide a complete EIR to the agencies of which eagles are one species in the huge EIR report. No matter what the route of our information, we only report our findings and make no statements regarding the impacts of any one project on Golden Eagles. Your implications in the San Diego, East County Report to the contrary is false, and liable.

Please take a look at our web site and note the last Wild News report to our members. You will find just the opposite from what you have stated.

Respectfully,

The MAINEtainer is initially distributed for member use only.  The link you obviously received as a MATC Member is a private link on a copyrighted website...IT IS NOT PUBLICLY available.  Only after membership has had sufficient priority viewing is the document made public for anyone's consumption...again, on a copyright website.  You do not have permission to relocate the pdf document or link to another venue.  It will be available at MATC.org in due course.  This is not about oppression or squelching of freedom of speech...it is about respecting the original content published by others.

Thank you for taking down the post.

Regards,

Doug

Oh Eric, that's a good one; "outside the perimeter of concern".

So much for the thin green line. As long as the dragons are kept at the prescribed distance from my area of concern, that's your problem, not mine. And you're the nasty NIMBY's and we're the sacred environmentalists.

The Bingham Project has 100% turbine installation I believe. Though probably visible to some extent from the mountain locations, nowhere are they so grossly visible than from Rt 15 in Monson, Rt 150 Guilford, Rt 16/15 Guilford and Rt 152 Palmyra Maine, unless you traverse through the farm on route 16 from Abbot to Bingham where they look hauntingly down upon you depending on the direction of travel. These communities see them the most, but were outside the perimeter of concern. The flashing red lights though untested to my knowledge as they tower upward into the skies while currently presenting their structural dangers to birds and any unsuspecting aircraft, will at times haunt the night skies as erie read dragon eyes of the skies.

How politically correct of the MATC!  They applaud Sun Edison for recognizing visual impacts of wind turbines!  Kind of like a wild horse rescue applauding a slaughterhouse for recognizing that horses don't enjoy being killed.

Comment by Jim Wiegand on September 13, 2016 at 1:36pm

.............By using fraudulent wildlife impact studies. Followup studies, endorsed by the corrupt, will be fraudulent as well as the slaughter to raptors from these turbines is hidden.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
