WCSH doesn't understand the role solar, and wind plays in corrupting the grid, especially a grid that depends on natural gas-fired plants to backstop solar and wind. The global demand for natural gas and oil has reached the shores of Maine and because natural gas remains the dominant fuel for electricity generation in New England, the price of electricity mimics the price of natural gas.

This demand depletes the supply of natural gas, worldwide, decreasing grid reliability and sending electric rates soaring.

  •      The political demand for a rapid switchover to "clean fuels" is crushing household budgets in Maine, pitting the work culture against the welfare culture, which is destructive and weakening our characteristic strength of paying our bills on time.
  •      Our trust in people who make the laws and the people who report the news is fading fast. The call to action to rid the state of fossil fuels is based on ambiguous opinions, not known facts. We will always have the right and duty to question opinions, especially opinions that lead to the crumbling of living standards.
  •     Understand this WCSH and the other media outlets playing mockingbird to the "new normal". Believing wind, solar and battery storage can replace fossil fuels is an example of a fizzled mentality. WCSH takes the easy course of preaching alongside the non-scientific community of aroused activists and brainless politicians.
  •      Following the onslaught of wind and solar projects was the retirement of many coal and nuclear plants, the arrest of hydro projects, and an increased demand for generation by natural gas, as the least evil fuel to keep the lights on.
  •       It isn't working, WCSH. It's causing energy poverty within the state and the issuing of welfare checks to cover the mistakes isn't going to work!
  •      Uncover the truth about 'clean energy" or simply keep quiet. Better to keep quiet than to raise your voice and leave no doubt of your ignorance.

WCSH article (excerpt):

The electrification path includes mostly replacing older/less efficient oil and gas furnaces with air source heat pumps. Data from Efficiency Maine shows that new high-performance electric heat pumps have 60 percent lower carbon... compared to oil burners. Even in the coldest areas in Maine, there is evidence that adding a supplemental heat pump for the less extreme days provides a significant benefit as well as savings.

The savings are an important part of this equation. By reducing energy consumption and increasing heating efficiency, Mainers will ultimately be saving money. In fact, according to the latest fuel source comparison on Efficiency Maine’s website, air source heat pumps come in third cheapest, behind only wood stoves and geothermal heat pumps, which are great but require a more significant initial investment.

The initial investment is the hurdle for much of Maine. Although Efficiency Maine offers substantial rebates, air source heat pumps typically cost $4,000 to $6,000 per unit...

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
