Did You Know Our Maine Government Was Prepared to Overcharge Maine Electric Customers For a Hydrogen Energy Facility

It's about transparency:

The Maine PUC is not transparent!

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAFT REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Draft RFP is offered as a vehicle to inform potential bidders as to how the Commission will conduct a solicitation for proposals for a Clean Hydrogen Facility and allow the Commission to determine…

The Maine PUC Proves to be Useless Negotiaters for CMP Customers

The Robbins Mill fire was a real tragedy, but the Maine PUC intentionally negotiated a contract between CMP and the mill for biomass to electricity production that they knew would cost CMP customers millions of dollars. In fact, over the last 7 years CMP customers have paid over $30 million dollars to the mill. Add Renewable Energy Credits and the cost grows by an additional $7 million dollars.

The biomass plant is gone and the badly associated…

Energy company proposes big natural gas pipeline expansion in New England

This expansion along with the termination of RGGI will substanially lower electric bills. Natural gas will be the dominate fuel for heating and electricity production for many, many years. The renewable energy fad has been exposed for what it is. a bad deal.

"expanding access to reliable, lower-cost energy supply can help improve affordability, reduce volatility, support system reliability, and strengthen…

The Volatility of Fossil Fuels Would Have Been Less Expensive for CMP Customers, but for Government Intervention

Remember how the volatility of fossil fuels required Maine Legislative action to control costs?

Well, the Legislature tasked the Maine PUC with arranging contracts between renewable energy projects and ratepayers of CMP and Versant. These contract arrangements included payments from ratepayers to the selected renewable projects and the payment prices were determined by the PUC involving "long term agreements" of 20 years.

In the case of Robbins Lumber…

The Ball Less Maine PUC Seeks Courage to End NEB Corruption and Proves It Has None.

"The PUC Commission is examining long-term financial mechanisms and buy-down arrangements that could allow distributed generation project sponsors to voluntarily exit existing NEB arrangements."

It seems the Maine Government has found itself in a pickled mess regarding Net Energy Billing and is asking for a remedy that would entice all these solar projects to exit NEB arrangements. What a joke. These…

The Maine PUC Declares an Oxymoronic Mission Contrary to Physical Science and EPA Edict

Go to the PUC website and you will be greeted with an imbelcilic declaration.

Maine needs new energy regulators who make decisions based on human needs, not biased nonsense.

Welcome to the Maine Public Utilities Commission website

"Our mission is to serve Maine by balancing access to safe and reliable utility services with rates that are just and reasonable for customers and public utilities, while minimizing energy costs…

Heat Pump Rebates Total Over $500 Million Dollars. Where are the Reduced Electric Rates, Director Stoddard?

Director Stoddard of Efficiency Maine Trust, said during a legislative session that the kilowatt hours goobled up by ratepayer subsidized heat pumps would be paid by reduced delivery costs to everyone in Maine. He must know something that my bill doesn't reveal as it keeps going up and up due to increasing rates.

I guess the director should have a the title of Flim-Flam Man number 2.

Efficiency Maine Trust has rebated more than…

How Will the Flim-Flam Man of the PUC Try to Pull the Wool Over the Eyes of the Maine People After Aroostook County Wind Project Bids Become Available?

The Flim-Flam man, AKA Philip Bartlett, PUC Commissioner will present the Maine people with some numbers from the 1200 megawatt wind project bid that he will say saves us money on our electric bills.

He will not tell you about all the other numbers that come with this wind project. He will focus on the bid amount per megawatt hour against the ISO-NE wholesale market price. That number may be less than wholesale which will result in a savings per the "Energy…

A Rotten Deal Being Concocted by Unscrupulous Government People Manipulating a Weak Management Agency

Talk about putting the cart before the horse. This project goes nowhere if ISO-NE determines they  utimately should reverse pursuing this project in September 2026,  because they decide to adhere to their basic mission statement which favors no particular type of generation over any other, which this project is doing by their own admission

The Maine PUC is attempting to influence the ISO-NE decision by pre-approving a wind project and generator tie-line to Pittsfield…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
