Hey, Mark. I am the co-leader of Friends of Lincoln Lakes, where we lost a 2 year battle against First Wind. www.friendsoflincolnlakes.org The 40 turbines are now up, including turbines just above a nesting pair of eagles on Upper Pond in Lincoln. They don't stand a chance, as they are used to soaring over the ridge to fish in Madagascal Pond, Silver Lake and the thousand acre bog section of the Passadumkeag River. Same for the eagles on Folsom Pond in Lincoln and Silver Lake in Lee, though their nests are not as close to the turbines. All the raptors soar around the ridges and fish the lakes. Additionally, there are eagles in the nearby Penobscot River that likely hunt around the lakes. We are outraged! Nobody cares about the eagles. The person I met with at Maine Audubon didn't even know where Lincoln was and was unfamiliar with the Penobscot River flyway, which is hugely important. Attached is my testimony at our state hearing as well as a map showing the location of the eagles nest (the red spot) and their roosting tree on a tiny island (yellow spot)on Upper Pond. The 6 turbines will go on the ridge on the right side of the topo map.
