what they do to our mountains is worse than strip mining they will take off the whole top of the mountain and make it flat this wont effect the wildlife will it I cant believe people would allow this all we have in Dixfield is the mountains we have no lakes no ponds all we have is the wildlife the woods I cant believe that's what people will kill to have a windmill on a hill

Norm, thanks for joining CTFWP.  I appreciate your concern regarding the cemetary.  Unfortunately, these wind thieves have no respect for the deceased or living people or wildlife.  Neither does the DEP.  Unless a turbine pad site or access road is going to directly plow through and desecrate the cemetary, there is nothing you can do to protect it.  Rally your friends and neighbors to oppose the destruction of Canton Mt., though DEP is already inking the rubber stamp.  It is going to be very sad when the day comes that Patriot Renewables and others have lined every available ridge in the upper Androscoggin River valley with these monstrous, useless machines.  People need to see Roxbury and Woodstock turbines and be able to visualize the entire region dominated with this blight!

this cemetery is not in there  paper work that i can see I don't think they know its there !!!!

Norman, you must do two things, immediately.  You must write to the DEP staff who is managing this application and demand a field survey to locate and identify this cemetary.  You must also contact Maine Old Cemetary Association and solicite their support.  http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~memoca/moca.htm has a contact link.  Every interest group we can find must get involved.  In Lincoln, the old Scottish Cemetary in Rocky Dundee had been identified in one of Stantec's "drive-by" surveys.  We complained, but the road they built went right by it within about 20 feet.  Good luck!

I have sent emails to Dep commissioner  , Maine Old Cemetery Association, and to  Craig Bryant who maintains the website  for http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~meccanto/

Canton, Oxford County, Maine Genealogy Project but I guess he wont be much help

PLEASE NOTE, that do to a disability, I am no longer able to do research and am unable to answer e-mails. I am going leave the site open for you to use. Good hunting and remember, I have not been able to find sources for some of the genealogy data within, thus the information should be questionable, until you have verified it yourself.

THERE IS NO REGARD FOR THE RICH HISTORY OF MAINE..when FW called me about the Oakfield Project Matt Kearns condescendingly said in his affable voice that I was simply uncomfortable with change..how trite and simplified. I am passionate about preserving life and saving the planet and wildlife and history even as these ghastly companies claim they are saving the world..such a big lie it stinks..but political propaganda runs very deep, it is a HUGE machine worldwide...but everywhere there are citizens that know better..if ONLY some famous environmentalist with influence like Leonard Dicaprio or the like would catch on to this..I got an invite to give $ to the DEMS and maybe win a dinner with Obama and Clooney- Clooney is right on for human rights but in league with that should be the humans getting cancer and heart disease and being unable to sleep because of these things..the turbines are just getting BIGGER which means further reach of their lights and sound. and yes what they do to the mountains is criminal as Norman points out..taking habitat from animals big and small and killing those in the air.,.the Audobon's recent bird and wind guidelines were with the FEDS and one of the sponsors of Audobon is FW..who is going to bust them???? someone influential would so help!

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
