Years ago, slick talking hucksters sold their useless product called snake oil which they claimed would cure most human ailments. As long as the liar could move on quickly to the next community before his products real impacts were known to the public,he might survive the noose .
The snake oil salesman has taken on a new form in this century, and they are called wind developers. The only thing saving them presently is the graft accepting politicians that feed their horses.

The wind scam is basically convincing taxpayers to pay for their "turbines to nowhere" and then take a cut (PTC's) of the embellished energy totals they get to claim with voluntary reporting.
From the outside all this looks a lot like the Gaham Wilson cartoon I saw decades ago with a dumbass signing a contract stating "Guaranteed or no money back." Of course the dumbass in this case is the taxpayer and the guy holding the contract would be the wind industry.
I am convinced Penny that it is feigned ignorance , let us not forget the Wind Power Report of the OEIS presented by Kenneth Fletcher to the Legislature in 2012 and containing 22 suggestions for improving the law and years of testimonies . I do not believe at all that this is politically correct , how can a wrong energy policy be approached as a subject submitted to psychologically potentially offensive content? I am left with your latter cause with all the spectrum it includes going from intimidation to promise of a job or fear of losing one and anything in between.
Is it feigned ignorance on behalf of our legislators, or genuine ignorance? Or some combination of the two? Without a doubt this is the biggest threat to Maine's economy, environment and rural residents that has yet reared its ugly head, yet they stubbornly adhere to their beliefs and refuse to do their homework. Is this all about being politically correct? Or politically corrupt?
I am sad that the CTFWP and many other wind warriors organizations have brought up those arguments 6 years ago , but that politicians refused to listen .
The Maine legislature can no longer hide behind a feigned ignorance , it has the power and the duty to vote for what we asked in February 2009 for the first time and at a Press conference in February 2010: a complete moratorium on construction of any new projects as well as a bill that would entirely rescind the Expedited Wind Law based on the facts that all its premises were false and that the law was fascistic , that is the result of collusion between an industry and the government for the benefit of that industry and not of the people it represents .
Please Mainers send emails to your legislators with those two requests ,they have no place to hide anymore . The Expedited wind Law can be ripped apart without any difficulty , we have exposed the arguments , now the arguments have become undeniable facts .

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
