Kirsten Gillibrand unveils $10 Trillion plan to combat climate change

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand released a $10 trillion proposal to fight climate change over the next decade, aiming to bring the U.S. to net-zero carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

In her plan rolled out in a Medium post on Thursday, Gillibrand promised to immediately enact the Green New Deal by relying on both public and private funds, including a $52 per metric ton carbon tax that she estimated could generate $200 billion annually.

“American taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing an industry built on greed that’s destroying communities’ health and the planet,” she wrote in the post. “So I will work with Congress to end federal subsidies, including tax subsidies, for the fossil fuel industry.”

The New York senator also said she would reduce the federal government’s carbon footprint by repairing infrastructure, like building out electric-vehicle charging or prioritizing transportation funding for high-speed rails, as well as making it more resilient to the effects of climate change, particularly in rural communities.

Joni Ernst Reintroduces Swamp Act to Move Federal Agencies Out of Swamp

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) reintroduced legislation Thursday that would move federal agencies out of the Washington, DC, swamp so federal bureaucrats can focus on helping the Americans they serve.

Sen. Ernst reintroduced her Strategic Withdrawal of Agencies for Meaning Placement (SWAMP) Act to move agency headquarters over geographically diverse areas of the nation so they focus on helping the Americans most impacted by their decisions. Nearly all federal agencies remain headquartered in or around Washington, DC.

“Washington-based federal agencies and bureaucrats make important decisions that impact the lives of Iowans, and all Americans. Yet, how can these rule makers fully consider and understand the effects of their decisions when those who are most impacted by their rules and regulations are out-of-sight and out-of-mind? We need to fix that,” Ernst said in a statement Thursday.

Ernst said, “If they want to be in an area where they’re supporting farmers and agriculture, they should be out in farm” land, adding that she does not “know of many active farmers here in Washington, DC.”

Gillibrand is just throwing out a big number to get attention and to show she is part of the un American Socialist Cortez/Bernie cabal.

Pelosi read the riot act to the quad.

No more group joint news conferences, no more independent pronouncements.

She threatened them with loss of Committee assignments.

They would be useless to their constituents, and likely not get re elected.

"$10 trillion proposal to fight climate change over the next decade, aiming to bring the U.S. to net-zero carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050."

Is that $100B per year for 10 years and then nothing? Or is that actual $100B per year forever and ever. I suspect she has no idea just how massive an undertaking it will be. I mean taping fart bags to every cow every week to capture methane is going to take a lot of union labor.

Does she realize that we can't even keep fecal bacteria out of our swimming areas?

Even $100T won't be enough for just the U.S.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
