Amen to this letter! Thank You Sandra Howard! Is it any wonder that Barry Hobbins has his hand right out there?
In 2017, EIS, the Energy Information Administration, changed its reporting requirements, for renewable energy projects. Many of Maine’s wind projects that previously provided monthly reports are now only required to file an annual report. The final (revised) 2016 data was made available On March 9. 2018. Here are the regs provided to me by EIA when I inquired about the change:…Continue
You Go Brad...And give 'em all hell about supporting useless and corrupt wind power!
Our friends at Protect Monhegan have until February 14th to provide comments against the University of Maine's Aqua Ventus project. Comments may be made at this link:
On shore or off shore it is business as usual for the wind industry...no matter who the…Continue
Tomorrow, slipped quietly in an off election, Mainers get to vote on the $50 million dollar bond to be used to help fund the Aqua Ventus offshore wind project. Please vote NO and save our birds!
LD 1342, scheduled for a work session by the EUT Committee on May 10th at 10:AM. I have been informed that this is a technical bill, but I am suspicious. For those who live in the unorganized territories, do you think this bill will give you fair consideration? Will this compromise the current 8 mile view shed? Will this allow transmission lines anywhere in the expedited wind zone?…Continue

Where is the truth here? Why would it be a mistake for Maine not to do this? The power won't be staying in Maine according to words out of U Maine's Jake Ward's mouth - The power is going right to the Emera's Atlantic link, a new underwater transmission line from New Brunswick to Plymouth, Mass. It would be helpful for Mainers to have all the facts - including the cost of this project and the cost of the energy as well as where the power will go so we- and the Maine legislature - can make…Continue
The EUT Committee held a hearing yesterday on LD1262, a bill to protect Monhegan Island from U Maine's Aqua Ventus offshore wind project. At issue are the rights of the residents of the Island and protecting their tourism and lobstering industries, critical to the island- Oh - And lets not forget protecting the birds! I'm for passing this bill!…Continue

One of my biggest frustrations in fighting ineffective industrial wind development is that when you talk about fighting wind power most people stare at you dumbfounded! They ask - How can you be against this? The planet is dying! The Earth is warming at a horrific pace! We have to do everything we can do now! And as you and I know the United States has spent billions of taxpayer dollars in response to this thinking!
The New York Times is trying to re-brand itself as the…Continue
If there were ever an award for journalistic BS - this article would surely be in the running. Unfortunately today, this is true also of most we read and hear from the media!…Continue
Why would anyone decide to put up a wind turbine in a location known as a migratory bird haven? Hundreds of birders flock (excuse the pun) to Monhegan every year! And many Monhegan citizens are not in favor of the turbine test site! Have we lost all manner of human decency when it comes to wind? And has U Maine?…
If you Google wind power a new site appears! Brought to you by the University of Maine, and touting off shore wind as Maine's most untapped natural resource - clean, responsible, renewable! The site goes on to extol the virtues of U Maine's Aqua Ventus I project - jobs, minimal view shed issues, reduced energy cost, etc. ( I wish they had consulted their neighbors of the project - the citizens of Monhegan Island!) And the site states that the University had already been selected to receive…Continue
This should come as no surprise! SunEdison received huge amounts of US Government grants and loan guarantees under the Obama administration! Most of them from wind or wind related projects! Is the veil finally going to be pulled back?…Continue

Yes - There are places in the world that can be 100% renewable - all located near the equator, all lacking substantial industry, many underdeveloped. Solar will work for them. This cannot be accomplished for cold weather developed nation, who have an industrial base or highly sophisticated research and development for the purposes of medical advancement, etc. …Continue
