The wind industry is notorious for signing bad leases for the landowner. Farmers and woodlands owners should be particularly careful when approached by a wind company.
Note that the wind companies always shroud these deals in secrecy. Part of the motivation for this is they want to quietly try and line up turbine sites in an area without the average person finding out. This way, by the time they submit an application, there is little time for residents to react and properly consider the out of scale factory being planned right under their noses.
But another reason for the secrecy and non-disclosure agreements is they want to discourage the landowners from discussing this freely as in doing so they will be more likely to learn of the many negatives.
