I wish Hannah Pingree and Heather Sanborn would explain how Natural Gas is raising electric prices:
ISO-NE tracks year over year electricity prices and year over year natural gas prices. The trend so far this year is for rising electricity prices despite sinking natural gas prices.
Wholesale power prices averaged $54.43 per megawatt-hour (MWh) in the Real-Time Energy Market in August 2026, up 33% compared to the previous year. Day-Ahead Energy Market averages were $52.17/MWh, up 14% from August 2025.
The average natural gas price during August was $2.24 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), which was down 11.5% from the August 2025 average.
