The Numbers from Efficiency Maine Show Diminishing Efficiency Opportunities

Efficiency Maine Trust(EMT) requested $87,500,000 from Maine electric ratepayers in 2026, but a carryover of funds from previous procurements in the amount of $9,600,000 reduced  this to a new request to $77,943,489

Efficiency Maine Trust(EMT) requested $61,515,818 from Maine electric ratepayers in 2027, but a carryover of funds from previous procurements in the amount of $38,260,000 reduced this to a new request to $23,288,618.

These reductions and carryovers indicate that the savings from efficiency methods and devices have diminished significantly.

EMT's mission has dwindled in effectiveness, by their own numbers, although their math used to justify the amount of money taken from ratepayers were always suspect.

EMT has never been, and, surely, is no longer a useful bureaucracy and should be abolished on behalf of ratepayers who have seen their bills climb even as EMT said rates would be reduced by their programs.

BTW, all RGGI money captured from Maine electric customers goes to EMT,  while Maine ratepayers pay an extra amount in a separate "Low Income" subsidy program.
