Maine PUC dismisses controversial CMP rate plan

Central Maine Power's controversial power distribution rate plan met an early end Tuesday as Maine utility regulators dismissed the case.

It's the first time on record the Maine Public Utilizes Commission has rejected such a proposal entirely.

Their decision reflected public opinion, which has been against the $1.5 billion dollar plan since it was released this summer.

"I think we all recognize that we really are at sort of an inflection point in the state of Maine and this rate case is sort of hitting at that time," said commission chair Phil Bartlett.

Bartlett said regulators are grappling with affordability concerns, planning for future power demands, and creating better performance incentives for power companies.

"I think we all seem to think this proposal misses the mark in terms of meeting the moment we're at," Bartlett said.

This summer, CMP filed a plan that called for yearly rate hikes over five years, adding about $35 a month to customer bills by the last year. The company said some of that increase would be offset by declining payments for storm recovery.

The company argued it needed a significant increase to improve storm preparedness, bring down recovery costs and improve its grid.

But the plan faced swift opposition from political figures and customers.

    The PUC commissioners rejected CMP's proposal to bring about the demise of CMP by public outcry using the nefarious methods of keeping the public disgusted with CMP because of the costs of repairing storm damage with outside contractors and forcing CMP into collecting money for solar, wind, battery storage and hydrogen development. The public must not know the dilapidated condition of the grid by letting this case be adjudicated; the commissioners and the other cabal cohorts want to keep flooding the distribution network with intermittent power, further increasing rates. They are convinced they can cause the collapse of CMP  by convincing the public that CMP wants to profit off their backs as the climate alarmists carry out their plan to takeover the grid by lies and hidden information.

    There can be no doubt that the PUC commissioners are a major players in the conspiracy to drive CMP out of business by inciting public outrage. By rejecting the request by CMP to have the PUC examine their proposal to make the grid more resilient to storm impacts, they are setting up CMP to brutal customer backlash when the next storm ravishes the network. The staff of professionals on the PUC were more than willing to participate in the case, but were thrown under the bus by their bosses.Thos clears the path for the PUC commissioners to hear from the cabal on how to reshape CMP into a Green Nightmare and control what type of generation dominates the feed into  distribution system and how and when customers will receive electric service. The cases for this transformation are already in place for enactment. The PUC is not your friend and neither is the public advocate.Your Government is put to crush the people of Maine.
