MAINE STATE GOVERMENT, PLEASE STOP TREATING THE RATEPAYERS AS FOOLS!

THE PUC HAS FORMULATED THE CHARGE TO BE APPLIED TO NET ENERGY BILLING PROJECTS BASED ON NAMEPLATE CAPACITY, NOT ACTUAL PRODUCTION.

THEREFORE, A 3000-KILOWATT NAMEPLATE CAPACITY NEB PROJECT WILL BE CHARGED $18,000 PER YEAR OR 0.4 CENTS PER KILOWATT-HOUR PRODUCTION!

A 2,990-KILOWATT NAMEPLATE CAPACITY NEB PROJECT WILL BE CHARGED $8,372 PER YEAR OR 0.2 CENTS PER KILOWATT-HOUR PRODUCTION!

THE LEGISLATURE AND THE PUC CONTINUE TO SPIT IN THE FACE OF RATEPAYERS!

Net Energy Billing Project Charge PUC case # 2025-00264, August 26,2025

"To offset the costs of Net Energy Billing, the transmission and distribution utility will assess a monthly charge to a distributed energy resource participating in Net Energy Billing with a Shared Financial Interest Customer pursuant to section 3209-A of Title 35 A as follows:"

1. Initial Net Energy Billing Project Charge. Beginning on January 1, 2026, a
transmission and distribution utility will assess the following monthly charge:
a. For a distributed generation resource with a nameplate capacity of 3 megawatts or more and less than 5 megawatts, the charge will be $6.00 multiplied by the nameplate capacity of the resource in kilowatts;

b. For a distributed generation resource with a nameplate capacity of one megawatt or more and less than 3 megawatts, the charge will be $2.80 multiplied by the nameplate capacity of the resource in kilowatts; and

c. For a distributed generation resource with a nameplate capacity of less than one megawatt, there will be no charge.
2. Adjustment of Net Energy Billing Project Charge. The Commission will, on a
periodic basis, increase the initial Net Energy Billing Project Charge to account for
increases in transmission and distribution rates such that compensation to an eligible
facility related to transmission and distribution rate credits does not increase by more
than 2.25% per year.
The Commission will annually evaluate whether an increase to the Net Energy
Billing Project Charge applicable in the next calendar year is necessary. The
Commission will use the following formula and will increase the Net Energy Billing
Project Charge by the resulting adjustment factor if the adjustment factor is greater
than zero.

3. Billing and Failure to Pay Net Energy Billing Project Charge. The transmission
and distribution utility will assess the Net Energy Billing Project Charge on a
monthly basis. If a Project Sponsor fails to pay the Net Energy Billing Project Charge
within 30 days of the assessment, the transmission and distribution utility must
discontinue providing credits to customers subscribed to the project. If the payment is
made after 30 days, the utility is prohibited from applying credits that accrued during
the period of non-payment.
4. Exemption from Net Energy Billing Project Charge. A distributed generation
resource is exempt from the Net Energy Billing Project Charge if it can demonstrate
to the Commission that it is:

Time to throw out Democrat, vote in Page.

He will abolish all this bs, with help of Trump

  • Willem Post

    Throw out Collins as well.

    She is a faux Republican

  • Dan McKay

A definite changeover of the Maine Legislature and Governor to Republican control is very necessary if there can be any hope to common sense energy policies for Maine
