Gotta love nuclear power. But NextEra also owns gas and oil generation in addition to Seabrook. They all hate Canadian Hydropower.

....For five years, two of the world’s largest power companies have been locked in an all-out battle over the future of New England’s electric grid. The outcome could determine the fate of the region’s decarbonization efforts for decades.
The fight pits Avangrid Inc., a subsidiary of the Spanish power giant Iberdrola, versus NextEra Energy Inc., the most valuable power company in America. It effectively is a contest between hydro power — generated by dams in Quebec and carried on a 146-mile transmission line built by Avangrid across Maine — versus a large nuclear plant operated in New Hampshire by NextEra.
The two companies have poured tens of millions of dollars into a ballot referendum in Maine, waged legal battles in two state supreme courts and are engaged in an ongoing struggle at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Only one low-carbon resource may survive....

Seabrook is in New Hampshire. New Hampshire should include nuclear as a renewable resource and prop it up with a decent PPA such as Connecticut did with the Millstone Nuclear plant. Both plants are critical to the New England grid.
Interestingly, the Conn. PPA supports emission free generation, and the costs are paid by utility customers of Connecticut, while everyone in NE benefits from it.
A New Hampshire PPA with Seabrook would as well by paid by New Hampshire utility customers and also be benefitting all of New England.
Maine has a chance to benefit all of New England without any PPA costs to Maine utility customers, but Caruso, The NextEra Queen will not hear of it.

Remember, Avangrid also owns gas and oil generation in the U.S. AND is in control of many underling companies throughout the U.S. with a recent attempt to acquire a New Mexico power company.
We the people, are just the Pawns of this battle, but the sacrificial lamb is the remaining lands and quality of life of Maine. Whether Wind or Solar or other sources of energy that seek to gain control of those remaining lands, all which in the end, will leave us and future generations being nothing more than the fighting tenant caretakers for their pleasures should anything remain.
