Biden goes nuclear to save the planet. What's Mills to do??
The Biden administration is quietly admitting it can't achieve zero-emissions without a national fleet of firm, reliable, thermal power plants. Are they talking nuclear power? To quote from the article I've posted below, it sounds like Joe has seen the light.

Reality has abruptly dawned on the technocrats and climate zealots that the net zero scheme to run our economy with wind and solar is a fools errand. One practical reality, the shear scale of landmass required to achieve zero-emissions with wind and solar has hit home. To keep the net zero ball rolling, Biden is quickly pivoting the discussion to include subsidies (PTC) for NPP - similar to the decades long handouts to wind and solar. Joe is also getting pressure from his cronies in organized labor who are licking their chops at the prospects of cashing in on lucrative contracts for NNP upgrades and possibly new construction going forward. The punch bowl of funding laid out in the infamous boondoggle called the infrastructure bill has the usual suspects fighting for a place in line at the ATM. But the bottom line is clear - they can't get to zero with unreliable, intermittent renewable schemes like wind, solar, and costly battery packs.
So what's Gov. Wind Mills going to do now? According to her dear leader in DC, relying on 100% renewable energy to power your economy at net zero is not doable, Destroying Maine's iconic ridgelines with hideous wind turbines or littering valuable, scenic farmland with highly-inefficient solar plants while turning Maine into a high voltage transmission Xmas tree won't cut it.
Someone needs to ask her what she's has in mind now that Joe is going nuclear.

Mills's plan calls for 141,000 EV's by 2040. As of 2019, Maine had 1.6 mm vehicles (all classes) on the road. CO2 puking China will eliminate any CO2 reductions by Maine in seconds. A new report stated that it would take 16 days for China to negate Australia's proposed annual emission reductions in 16 days. Why isn't Greta in Beijing shaker her finger at XI?

But I've got bad news. Even nuclear won't solve the transportation problem which is 30 - 50% of the carbon issue. According to one climate forum, Maine needs to sell 240,000 electric vehicles by 2030 just to keep up. How about using an ion drive to make the Earth spin faster so the winds will blow harder and ... ?
Well there is always geothermal ... ?

The Brits have plans to build 8 compact modular reactors based upon a Rolls Royce design taken from their nuclear sub experience. They're built in a factory and delivered to the site - no massive construction project/cost overruns. Costs about $1 billion for 800MW. We'll spend $1 billion screwing around building some useless transmission corridors to interconnect useless wind and solar.
