East Coast Whale Deaths No Brainer Wind Turbine Construction
- These same officials looking into whale deaths have set an offshore wind agenda of 30,000 megawatts of offshore wind turbines off the East Coast by 2030. Politicians said they will accelerate NOAA permitting of projects off the Atlantic Coast and prepare to open up waters near New York and New Jersey for development where a majority of the whale deaths occurred.
- Since the start of the construction of ocean wind turbines off Rhode Island in 2016, there has been an "unusual mortality" of whales along the eastern coast.

- US Department of Energy and NASA knew about the effects of land-based wind turbine infrasound multiple frequencies 40 years ago causing annoyance, sleep disturbance, and headaches in humans. The Massachusetts land-based wind agenda of 2000 megawatts of power by the year 2020 ended with a total of around 100 megawatts over drastic infrasound noise issues statewide. Now, these same officials are ignoring noise and whale deaths.
- Whales communicate using frequencies and travel in groups called “pods.” They use a variety of noises to navigate and communicate with each other. The three methods to generate frequencies are clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls all found at ocean wind construction sites.
- Since 2016 offshore wind companies have been mapping the East Coast using sonar or pulse devices. The Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in California found that a 2012 regulation that allowed the Navy to use low-frequency active sonar for training and testing violates the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

- Whales' brains are five times the size of humans and send extremely low-frequency underwater calls to one another. It's a no-brainer that ocean wind construction interferes and causes the extinction of whales.

- Some environmental groups are blaming the deaths on the development of offshore wind farms as the whales lose their communication skills during the mapping and construction of the wind farms only on a larger scale than in Rhode Island in 2016. The whales navigate into shipping lanes causing ship strikes.

Officials, with a wind turbine renewable energy agenda, say they have found no evidence to suggest wind farms are to blame.
