Please read and please get involved if you can and care about northern Maine. This has the potential to severely destroy the "quality of place" in northern Maine.

Excerpts:

The Northern Maine Renewable Energy Development Program, referred to in this section as "the program," is established to remove obstacles to the use of and to promote development of the substantial renewable energy resources in northern Maine...............

Promote energy equity with particular consideration given to the economic circumstances and opportunities in the State's socially vulnerable counties and communities. For the purposes of this subparagraph, "socially vulnerable counties and communities" means those counties and communities in the State containing populations that are disproportionately burdened by existing social inequities or lack the capacity to withstand new or worsening burdens....................

Request for proposals; generation connection line. On or before November 1, 2021, the commission shall issue a request for proposals for the development and construction of a 345-kilovolt double circuit generation connection line, or, in the commission's discretion, a transmission line or lines of greater capacity, to connect renewable energy resources located in northern Maine and developed pursuant to subsection 3 with the electric grid operated by the New England independent system operator, referred to in this section as "the ISO-New England system."

I was preparing for the BEP meeting Thursday when I noticed in the statutes that the BEP has Zero authority over wind projects _ unlike they had over NECEC. I wonder which genius put that in the rules.

Stephen - and the media knows it but they simply obey "the narrative". The watchdogs no longer bark. The country is in huge trouble. The wind scam is but one manifestation. Everything is rigged.

Willem, the great wind debacle has, is, and always will be the greatest ponzi scheme perpetrated upon the citizens of the country! It gets shuffled from one owner to another, and in the end the chinese windmills will fail and the only ones left to pick up the pieces will be the local citizens to pay for junking the useless hulk. the politicians know it, the owners know it, and the public will know it when they get the bill!

Wind and solar cannot function on the grid, unless OTHER generators counteract the output variations of wind and solar, 24/7/365

Presently, the subsidies for wind and solar enable owners to recoup about 45% of the turnkey cost within 5 years.

Very often these original owners sell their wind and solar systems in year six, usually to friends and associates, or foreigners.

The new owners again get all the subsidies, just as before, they milk the project for 5 years, and then sell it.

And round and round it goes!

Those folks get rich, and do not give a damn about you and your electricity bills.

All of them hand huge bribes to politicians to maintain the favorable status quo.

These politicians/owners have taken on the power to IGNORE YOU FOREVER.

They will finance fraudulent elections, to get Trump out, and install a 78 year old, blathering idiot.

Biden must have thought he would never have a chance to win, but the insiders knew the fix was in.

Robert. Prepare to be disappointed. Three minutes is all you get. So you have to hit some tender spots. I even tried the 'legacy to your grandkids' routine and the damage that will be caused that they will need to fix. I quoted Erin Brockovich verbatim - nada. I pointed out the bill was paraphrased from Gov Jay Inslee. I mean, short of the Devil, I threw everything at these folks. Thy didn't budge. Didn't bat a wind blade.

"Ignorant we can fix. Stupid is a lifetime sentence."

The Ivanpah solar thermal station on I-15 at the California-Nevada border produces 30% of the electricity it contracted to deliver from its solar towers. It burns gas to make the rest.

There is a reason T. Boone Pickens built wind on top of his gas fields: To get the subsidies. Warren Buffett says the only reason to build wind is to get the subsidies.

Blood sucking rent seekers.

I can't stand it anymore so I'm submitting a response for the hearing on Tuesday that I attached for this blog - no profanity although very applicable and I am completely aware that this legislation is bound and determined to "save the environment" from GHG emissions and they want to push water uphill in a wheel barrow to get wind mills to attempt to generate electricity.  Even peer reviewed studies about wind energy have conclusively shown it just doesn't work and that for every kwh of alleged electricity supposed to come from wind there MUST be the same amount coming from reliable fossil fuel fired generators.  You simply cannot fix stupid.

The ones getting kickbacks are Sierra Club and Friends of the Earth.

As Michael Shellenberger documented in "Apocalypse Never," Sierra Club gets a big chunk of their funding from gas companies. Sierra Club had supported nuclear power because it's non-polluting. David Brower, a member of the Sierra Club board, had confused nuclear power with nuclear weapons and wanted Sierra Club to oppose it. He left Sierra Club to found Friends of the Earth.  He was able to do that because the chairman of Atlantic Richfield Company (now ARCO) gave him $83,000 to do it -- about $500,000 in today's money. When gas companies offered Sierra Club a similar deal, they switched their position.

I get the feeling that someone is getting some kickbacks under the table. No politician would risk this unless they had something big to gain. LD 1710

They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
