NPR - Meet The White House's New Chief Climate Change Skeptic

March 1, 2019

Happer, 79, joined the staff of President Trump's National Security Council last fall. And according to documents first leaked to The Washington Post, he appears to be pushing the White House to mount a challenge to the government's official assessment of climate change, which calls climate change a serious national security threat.

Happer became a physicist. He taught at Columbia University and joined the faculty at Princeton University…

Mills says oil and gas drilling off of Maine would jeopardize tourism (BDN)

Meanwhile, for over 10 years industrial wind turbines, now near 600' tall, have been proliferating throughout inland Maine with virtually no regard to tourism and property values. It seems there is a two tiered system - one for folks living on the Maine coast and another for those living in interior Maine. Remember also, Sen. Susan Collins cheered offshore wind because it would be "over the horizon and out of view". But inland, the politicians define setbacks in mere hundreds of…

BLOCKBUSTER: Mueller’s ‘Foreign Agent’ Prosecutions May Lead to Probes of Green Groups

EXCERPTS from the article:

By invoking a law regulating foreign agents to pursue prosecution of former Trump campaign officials, special counsel Robert Mueller opened the door to more intense scrutiny of some U.S. environmental groups, according to legal analysts who say China and Russia use such groups to influence America’s energy policy.By invoking a law regulating foreign agents to pursue prosecution of former Trump campaign officials, special counsel Robert Mueller opened the…

T. Boone Picken’s Little Green Deal (remembering a stillborn crony scheme)

A decade ago, a rent-seeking, vainglorious Texas oil man named T. Boone Pickens spent tens of millions of dollars to promote what today might be called the Little Green Deal.

There are many lessons to be learned from T. Boone’s ill-fated, expensive, distracting venture. Here are several:

  • Industry cronyism, from Ken Lay to T. Boone to James E. Rogers, gave the…

The Big Money Behind Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal

The Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was crafted by three far-left organizations and is being pushed by a coalition of well-funded professional progressive groups and known leftist agitators.

Some of the organizations helping to promote the Green New Deal have ties to financing from billionaire George Soros and trace their roots to such radical groups as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter.

The Green New Deal was crafted by…

Susan Collins, supporter of offshore wind, also supports offshore workers taking Americans' jobs

Maybe I'm missing something. Can someone explain why such legislation would be good for Maine and America?

Silicon Valley’s business elites and donor-class billionaires are uniting with elected Republicans and Democrats to ensure that white-collar, middle-class American jobs are swiftly outsourced to mostly Indian and Chinese nationals.

A plan known as the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act, introduced in the Senate by Sens. Mike…

UN IPCC Scientist Blows Whistle on Lies About Climate, Sea Level

2/12/19

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN IPCC) is misleading humanity about climate change and sea levels, a leading expert on sea levels who served on the UN IPCC told The New American. In fact, it is more likely that sea levels will…

Press Herald on Green New Deal: "The need for such a plan has been obvious for some time"

Ocasio-Cortez is a favorite target of right-wing pundits, and a charismatic leader for a generation of progressives. But the Green New Deal is not a referendum on one congresswoman. The resolution has 67 co-sponsors in the House, including Maine Rep. Chellie Pingree, and has been adopted by a number of Democratic presidential candidates.

The need for such a plan has been obvious for some time. Ninety-one of the world’s leading climate scientists, who advise the U.N.’s…

Buying American And Not From China Means Less CO2

The above photo is Beijing, not Maine. Our air is clean and incredibly cleaner than 50 years ago. So is most of America's air. For those worried about global warming, rather than decorating Maine with foolhardy wind farms which have virtually no effect on CO2 emissions, they should be advocating that we all buy American whenever we can. This is…

Climate Committee Chairman Accused in Green Conflict of Interest Scandal

The Climate Industrial Complex is a $1.5 trillion per year scam industry of no value to mankind — or indeed the planet — whatsoever.

Its business model is built almost entirely on government credulousness.

Barely a wind turbine would be erected, barely a shimmery solar panel allowed to disfigure the landscape, barely a palm oil plantation planted, barely a bushel of biomass burned, barely a dubious university climate science department funded, barely a first-class airfare to…

Trump Eyes Action to Limit States' Powers to Block Pipelines

Effort seen as way to get shale gas to Northeastern states

The Trump administration is considering taking steps to limit the ability of states to block interstate gas pipelines and other energy projects, according to three people familiar with the deliberations.

The effort, possibly done through an executive order, is aimed chiefly at states in the Northeast U.S., where opposition to pipeline…

Bankrupt Utility Shedding More Than $40 Billion Worth Of Green Energy Contracts

PG&E wants the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco to rule whether the company must honor $42 billion worth of contracts with about 350 different energy suppliers, mostly solar and wind plants.

The court’s decision could have a major impact on California’s renewable energy industry and power makeup. Many green energy suppliers only do business with PG&E, California’s largest utility. Shedding those contracts would likely drive those companies under and cripple California’s…

“What was FDR’s New Deal pertaining to energy?

FDR’s New Deal with Energy

“What was FDR’s New Deal (1933–35) pertaining to energy? The real New Deal was centered on petroleum and coal. Second, it was an alliance of special business interests and power-hungry bureaucrats working against common consumers and taxpayers. Third, it was about a police state to try to enforce command-and-control…

1,500 Private Jets To Descend On Davos This Week, Up 50% From Last Year

Dear journalists: whatever you do, don't ask how these glorious crusaders for the environment arrived in Davos.

Some would call it ironic, others hypocritical but whatever your level of cynicism, here are the facts: as its top global risks for 2018 and 2019 in terms of likelihood, this year's billionaire boondoggle at the World Economic Forum in Davos listed "extreme weather conditions", i.e. global warming...... and yet, according to…

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company chooses wind energy for its first North American investment

The company, a subsidiary of Emirati investment vehicle Mubadala Investment Company, on Tuesday announced its share purchase agreement to buy British developer John Laing Group's interest in wind farms in Texas and New Mexico. While the exact dollar value of the deal has not been disclosed, Masdar's leadership described it as being "north of $100 million."

Robert Bryce on "The New Green Deal"

The all-renewable dogma of the Green New Deal looks yet more absurd because it is being promoted at the very same time that more and more landowners and politicians in rural areas are fighting against renewable-energy projects. Consider what is happening in Vermont, the home state of Bernie Sanders, the U.S. senator and former presidential candidate. Sanders, along with Ocasio-Cortez, was among the early champions of the Green New Deal. But wind projects in Vermont are facing strong…

While not specifically about the wind power feel good fraud, it would seem that this excellent new year's monologue from Mr. Carlson goes a good way in explaining how such a racket is allowed to occur in the country we have become.

Bill Gates' annual wrap up: how he sees energy

"Solar and wind are intermittent sources of energy, and we are unlikely to have super-cheap batteries anytime soon that would allow us to store sufficient energy for when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing".

The following is the energy section of Bill Gates' 2019 annual letter.

Energy

Global emissions of greenhouse gases went up in 2018. For me,…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
