PPH - Senate OKs bill overhauling U.S. energy policy

The bill would boost renewables such as solar and wind power, as well as hydropower, geothermal energy and even...........Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington state, the senior Democrat on the energy panel, called energy “the lifeblood of our economy” and said the Senate bill would push the nation toward “cleaner, more efficient, more cost-effective and renewable energy sources.”......The conservative Heritage Foundation denounced the bill as a “continuation of government meddling in the energy…

FIRST WIND: Pelosi’s Husband Invested in SunEdison Weeks Before Lucrative Expansion

Just how is it that politicians enter congress and by the time they leave, their personal wealth or that of family members has grown by a multiple that is incomprehensible to the average citizen?

SunEdison has maintained strong a strong presence in Washington throughout its financial woes. The company has spent more than $1 million on its lobbying operation since 2011.

It has employed lobbyists with the powerhouse Podesta Group since 2012, disclosure forms…

In the shadow of Katahdin - MOLUNKUS: Large landowner gives up on challenging wind “opt-out” petition

One of Maine’s largest private land owners has cited the “uncertainty” of wind power development in Maine as one of the primary reasons it has withdrawn its request to challenge Molunkus Township’s petition to remove itselffrom the state’s “expedited permitting area.”

Attorney Dean Beaupain, representing Lakeville Shores, Inc., notified the Maine Land Use Planning Commission of the change of heart in a letter dated April 19th. Lakeville Shores is owned by H.C. Haynes, Inc.

This is a real Laugh

I wrote an Email to the PPH editorial board about some rather rabid personal comments made by our friend Mike White on the article shilling "renewables".  They responded back that they had heard some of the off color remarks fron "kenindy" but were not familiar with Mike White.  That is a real laugh.

Study shows wind farms would impact local toursim

“Folks feel really strongly about these location.  They often grew up going to these beaches and now take their children.” “If you build turbines that are close to shore and you lose those loyal customers, you have to find the new ones." Attracting an entirely new customer base to replace current renters could be a lengthy and difficult process.…

MaineBiz - Need for clean energy spurs wind farm development — and opposition

The word "need" in the title is bogus. What it really should say is government mandates. Just as the wind industry has "gotten to" key legislators in Maine to put in the fix, they have done the same with key legislators in southern New England with regard to mandating ratepayers buy wind.

Excerpt:

O'Neil counters: "Utilities are thrilled to build new transmission and get their guaranteed 12% return on equity. When you add it all up, building wind is essentially an…

More BS from FMM/CPO'N

The recent claim in the Maine Biz story by FMM/CP O'Neil that they assisted 36 UT's in the EPA removal process is blatantly untrue. Of the 40 files on the LUPC site, 14 petitions were filed by citizens in the Moosehead region - O'Neil had nothing to do with these petitions. I also expect that he had nothing to do with Lexington, Molunkus, and Carroll.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHERE YOUR MONEY WENT

As you pay your taxes today ( or if you are a good one who can't wait to give your money away and pay your taxes early), check out where your money went! Or at least nearly $59 billion of it - to support wind and solar and other renewables.  The Federal  DOE 1603 Program is the renewables grant program - out and out giveaways! The Mercatus.org article details, in particular, the Federal DOE 1703 and 1705, renewable energy loan guarantees.  I feel like I've been had - you might also after you…

Maine Center For Public Interest Reporting – Three Part Series: A CRITICAL LOOK AT MAINE’S WIND ACT

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
