A little something to help educate others about Industrial Turbines Status

While turning, wind turbines do not produce air pollution. But that’s where the good news ends. Everything else about them is pollution, pollution, pollution. All aspects of them require tremendous amount of fossil fuels including their ongoing operation.

Each industrial wind turbine requires well over a ton of Neodium for its permanent generator magnet. Mining and refining neodium produces a tremendous amount of very serious pollution that kills people, with poison and cancer, creates huge open lakes of chemical waste which is also radioactive due to the Cesium production involved. Livestock, wildlife and vegetation are destroyed as well. This toxic waste is almost as dangerous as nuclear waste. But, the wind industry wants us to not pay any attention to what’s happening behind that curtain.

The wind industry also doesn’t want us to pay any attention to the fossil fuel consumption and destruction involved in moving wind turbines from factory to operating site. Preparing a roadway that will support the wind turbines is a major big deal for rural

Installations which require clear cutting trees that produce oxygen from CO2, digging out soil down to the of the basic ground level, filling the trench with 18 inches of 8 inch diameter rock and then 6 inch diameter rock and a rock topping the vehicles can operate on. The effect is to divide off and compartmentalize the wildlife habitats so wildlife have undo trouble meeting. The final site requires the demolition of mountainous places which are lost to all future generations. It is damage that cannot be undone. This is undo damage.

Now consider a few of the ill effects of operating industrial turbines in industrial wind complexes which some people euphemistically refer to as “wind farms” (sick!). There is much hard evidence to verify:

    • Wind power companies deny and minimize the ill effects of industrial turbines
    • Feeble and unsteady output. Our “best” complex provides less than 25% of its promised output.
    • Requires fossil fuel backup when the wind is not blowing.
    • Wind industry’s willingness to kill avian wildlife.
    • Sound pollution and an increasing number of emerging health impacts on residents
    • Causing social distress in families and the community
    • Destruction of property values.
    • Driving residents from their homes; and wildlife from their habitat
    • Wind industry unwilling to accommodate area residents’ needs as stated.
    • Wind industry unwilling to provide adequate decommissioning costs in case the project doesn’t work out for the residents.
    • Increases in electricity costs discouraging business development in Maine
    • Increases in taxes due to energy subsidies.
    • The unsightliness of the turbines in the Maine landscape.
    • Wind turbines have major forest fire risk.
    • When flashing red warning lights fail, they present a real danger to pilots.
    • The corruption the industry causes in all levels of government.
