Hello Mike - Many thanks for your Letter To The Editor in today's Bangor Daily News (March 4 2013). As always, you are direct and to the point.
I continue to monitor the UMPI turbine website daily, usually multiple times. Its output is, as usual, irregular and not much. February 20th, soon after a blizzard with Capacity Factor 85%, the turbine had a period of six days at Capacity Factor minus .001; .0056; .0042, -.001, .002, .123. I figured a capacity factor of .16 for the monthof February. January, another "wind month", chalked up CF .20. February included two blizzards and 12 days of essentially no wind. At least there were no breakdowns in turbine or software during January and February. This is partly because a faculty member named Eric Brissette (webmaster) is on the job.
