The Trump administration has strongly opposed wind turbines, pausing projects and halting federal approvals due to national security concerns. The lower courts have ruled against the administration, but the decisions could be appealed to higher courts. 

Denmark, a major supplier, exports wind turbine components, blades, nacelles, generators, and controls to global manufacturers.

President Trump recently negotiated with Denmark over Greenland, a Danish territory. Trump stated he would impose tariffs until a deal to purchase Greenland is reached.

Trump announced a 10 percent tariff on Denmark and other European countries, effective February 1, 2026. Tariffs would rise to 25 percent by June 1, in addition to the existing 232 national security tariffs, reaching 50 percent on steel and aluminum components, impacting Danish companies. Ultimately, importing wind turbine parts from Denmark to the U.S. faces significant cost increases.
