Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Thursday revealed a Secret Service whistleblower alleged Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe made cuts to personnel who could have helped prevent an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump and that there was retaliation against those who expressed concerns about security at Trump events.
In an August 1, 2024, letter to Rowe, Hawley said a whistleblower alleged that the agency’s Counter Surveillance Division (CSD) did not perform its typical evaluation of the site of Trump’s July 13 campaign rally and was not present at the rally.
.
“This is significant because CSD’s duties include evaluating potential security threats outside the security perimeter and mitigating those threats during the event,” Hawley said.
.
“The whistleblower claims that if personnel from CSD had been present at the rally, the gunman would have been handcuffed in the parking lot after being spotted with a rangefinder,” he added.
.
Hawley also said the whistleblower alleged that CSD could have flagged or mitigated the risk of leaving the building where a shooter fired at Trump from outside the Secret Service’s perimeter.
.
Hawley said the whistleblower alleged that Rowe “personally directed significant cuts to CSD” that included reducing the division’s manpower by 20 percent, and noted that Rowe did not mention this during his testimony to the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday.
.
Furthermore, Hawley said the whistleblower alleged retaliation against those within the Secret Service who expressed concern about security at Trump events.
“The whistleblower claims that following an event with the former President at a golf tournament in August of last year, Secret Service personnel present expressed serious concern that the Secret Service’s use of local law enforcement was not adequate for security needs: local law enforcement were not properly trained for the event or otherwise prepared to execute the tasks given them,” Hawley said.
.
“Further, Secret Service personnel expressed alarm that individuals were admitted to the event without vetting. The whistleblower alleges that those who raised such concerns were retaliated against,” he added.
.
Hawley asked Rowe for all records by August 8 relating to policy and personnel changes made to the CSD, and his personal involvement in changing or revising those policies, as well as the number of Secret Service agents facing disciplinary actions after raising concerns about Secret Service security practices.
.
Hawley additionally sought the exact breakdown of Secret Service personnel at the July 13 rally by division or unit.
Dan Bongino: Whistleblowers Confirm Secret Service Is Hiding a Big Secret (VIDEO)
Former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino blew the lid off of the culture of corruption in the Secret Service.
The Secret Service failed to protect President Trump last month during a Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
A bullet grazed President Trump’s ear after the gunman, Thomas Crooks, somehow evaded state, local and federal agents, climbed on top of a roof and took 8 shots at Trump and rallygoers.
Thomas Crooks was able to do the following on July 13:
Flew a drone over the Pennsylvania fairgrounds and got aerial footage of the rally layout on the day of the event – including 2 hours before Trump took the stage.
Got a range finder through security.
Evaded law enforcement officers from several different state, local and federal agencies.
Somehow ‘climbed’ up on a roof with his rifle 450 feet away from Trump, bear crawled to the perfect vantage point as bystanders alerted police and was still able to take 8 shots at Trump.
Parked a vehicle full of explosives near the Trump rally
Crooks was able to walk around the premises after Snipers took a photo of him looking suspicious.
A sniper located in the second story window was only 40 feet away from Crooks and didn’t neutralize him.
Trump was still able to take the stage after Crooks was pegged as suspicious by Secret Service.
Bongino told a story about a time he and another Secret Service agent, who is now assigned to Trump’s detail, warned about a suspicious Russian woman who was hired at the US embassy in Moscow back in 2004.
.
Dan Bongino said she was asking too many questions about how the Secret Service functioned. He sent an email back to Secret Service leadership in DC warning them about the suspicious Russian woman and they told him to shut the hell up.
It turned out that the suspicious woman who Bongino called “Anna,” was a Russian spy.
The Secret Service learned in 2018 that “Anna” was a Russian spy.
.
.
A counter sniper backed up Dan Bongino’s claims of the corrupt CYA culture at the Secret Service.
A counter sniper in an email earlier this week said the agency “SHOULD expect another assassination attempt” before November and complained that he is no longer proud to be a USSS counter sniper after leadership failed to protect President Trump on July 13.
.
“This agency NEEDS to change,” the sniper wrote in the email obtained by RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree. “If not now, WHEN? “The NEXT assassination in 30 days?”
“Sadly we have fallen short for YEARS,” the counter sniper wrote. “We just look good doing it.
I have conveyed these thoughts to not only supervisors (to include the current Captain of CS, but those responsible for training us (SOTS/CS).
Only to be brushed off as those with less experience somehow knew more than me.”
“The team I was once proud to be a part of, is something I have to somehow hide as I move into my next career,” the counter sniper continued.
.
“Who wants to hire a USSS CS guy who failed?
That’s the public perception I’m not faced with.
The USSS CS team is a stain I will never be able to cleanse.”
“The motto of the USSS…Cover Your Ass, CYA.
And every supervisor is doing it right now.”
It Was a Set-Up: Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe Caught in Another Lie, Was Personally Responsible for Cuts in Security Division Responsible for Threat Assessments
Jesse Watters on FOX News caught Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe in another lie regarding the security detail for President Donald Trump.
Nearly three weeks ago President Trump was shot in the ear and nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Since that time the Secret Service and FBI have refused to be straight with the American people on what was really going on that day.
We still don’t know why the Secret Service and FBI allowed a young would-be assassin to fire off eight shots at President Trump before he was taken out.
What is especially troubling is that the security at the rally identified Crooks 90 minutes before the shooting started and acting strange.
Crooks was also spotted running along the roof of the building minutes before he started firing at the president and his supporters, killing one and injuring three.
Acting Director Rowe said all assets were approved for the Trump rally.
But a whistleblower has stepped forward and revealed that it was Rowe himself who cut assets from President Trump’s detail.
Senator Josh Hawley posted on Rowe’s role in cuts to the USSS earlier today.
Jesse Watters called out Director Rowe on Thursday night.
Jesse Watters: The acting director of the Secret Service told Congress, under oath, that his agency didn’t cut resources from Trump’s detail.
Director Ronald Rowe: If you’re talking about Butler, Pennsylvania, all assets requested were approved. If you’re talking about the media reporting of assets requested, there were times when assets were unavailable and not able to be filled, and those gaps were staffed with state and local law enforcement tactical assets.
Jesse Watters: That’s a lie, period. Lying to Congress is a felony. A Secret Service whistleblower is telling Senator Hawley that that guy personally directed that Secret Service agents who do threat assessments at events be cut.
The whistleblower says those agents should have been at Trump’s Butler Rally doing threat assessments, and they were cut by that secret service director, Ronald Rowe.
Some of these secret service threat assessment agents had been warning about security problems for months leading up to the Butler Rally, but were ignored. Why?
If those agents were at the Butler Rally, Crooks would have been in cuffs the second he was spotted with the Range Finder, as part of threat assessment
Not only did Secret Service cut these special agents for Trump’s Butler rally, the Secret Service had not even called the locals who were providing backup that day.
