Massachusetts Legislature passes renewable energy bill
"Today is a celebration for the Massachusetts Legislature," Golden said. "We are poised with your vote today to pass and authorize the largest procurement of renewable energy in the history of the commonwealth of Massachusetts."
The bill would also require Massachusetts to solicit long-term contracts for 1,200 megawatts of hydropower or other renewable resources, such as land-based wind or solar........

As a native Massachusetts guy, I agree with the poster who wrote that the people of Massachusetts would not support the destruction of Maine's mountains, ridgelines and quality of place if they knew the facts. This bullshit is from Mass. legislators and Mass. Gov. Baker who are more than happy to push this destruction on Maine and keep it away from their state. They see that Maine legislators, supposed environmental groups and enough citizens here are that corrupt and/or stupid to take the massively destructive hit to our mountains, forests, wildlife and people, for Massachsetts' phony "green" energy.

I smell a rat. I'd say the talk about offshore is just chaff - a pure decoy or distraction so that rural Mainers take their eyes off the ball. The real end game for the Mass legislature is a PTC plantation in Maine where they figure we will be unable to fight them off.
Note that even though the people of Mass may pride themselves as green, when they are asked to voluntarily pay more to have wind electricity, they are nowhere to be found:

Here's a choice quote from NStar's CEO, Thomas May:
"Some programs have not been as popular as expected, May added. NStar Green, the program under which consumers can pay a premium to ensure some of their electricity is generated by wind, has attracted only 8,000 NStar customers - less than 1 percent of the company’s 1.1 million electricity consumers, he said. “We were a little disappointed that it was not greater,’’ May said. “Being the greenest state in the land of the free, we have a more educated audience, we have a more concerned, socially conscious audience. So we thought we would do better.’’I'm willing to bet that if the people of Mass were asked to vote by referendum for what their legislature just passed, they'd soundly reject it. I think that if the media ever told them they are harming their neighbors in Maine, they'd be even more against it. This is probably not the people of Mass as much as it is their legislators who are owned by those who give them money. I'd love to be able to look into their Swiss bank accounts.
