I happen to believe that wind energy is a well organized scam being promoted for tax dollars. I also believe the primary perpetrators should be going to prison with right along with Robert Durst.

In an article released today about Altamont Pass "Despite bird deaths, electric wind farm wins extension", FWS officials stated that 31 golden eagles have been killed by Altamont Winds' turbines since 2010.
Really?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              These Altamont dead eagle figures released in this article are big brother numbers approved from above. Even with rigged research conducted at Altamont between 2005-2010, a total of 121 eagle carcasses were reported. I also happen to know that just one group of 28 of the new turbines declared "safer"killed at least 4 golden eagles in just one year.

Then this article implies that many more birds and raptors will be killed because the new huge turbines declared safer have not been installed. Even a statement was released from the state Attorney General's office said a permit extension would "create serious inequalities for other turbine operators and will undercut current efforts to repower."

The truth not released to the public is that Altamont is not just replacing turbines or repowering. They are greatly expanding and adding millions more raptor killing cubic feet of rotor sweep with turbines falsely claimed to be safer. How were these huge turbines declared safer?  By conducting rigged studies with search areas 10 times too small and using other deceptive tricks like calling some eagle carcasses incidental.

No one should believe a word coming from the FWS about wind turbine related eagle deaths or turbine related mortality. Here is why.

Since 1997 approximately 31,000 eagle carcasses have been shipped to the Denver Eagle Repository of which thousands have come from wind farms. The cause of death and exact locations where these 31,000 eagles were found  has never been disclosed by the Interior Department even though years ago the Repository admitted one of the primary sources of eagle carcasses was from turbine fatalities.

The Interior Department which controls the FWS,  has been endorsing the wind industry's rigged mortality research for decades and gave this fraudulent green industry meaningless voluntary regulations. And for a finishing touch both wind industry and FWS personnel, the people that have shipped most of these 31,000 eagles to Denver, are bound by gag orders with severe penalties so this dead eagle information along with other horrific mortality information, remains hidden from the public.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            http://www.orovillemr.com/general-news/20150324/despite-bird-deaths...

Good idea...maybe the state legislators need to see that too...to realize what damage the wind act is doing to our state. Why should the three cleanest states have windsprawl? Why not the three dirtiest states Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia, not that I am in favor of them anywhere.

I think a presentation using a large state of Maine map with all of the projected and existing turbines marked on it would be a real eye opener for the tourism association.

Thanks Penny. I will email the tourism folks. They need to be on our side and stop sitting on the fence.

Mike, the tourism industry could be a big player in putting the brakes on the industrializing of Maine's viewsheds, given the economic value of tourism and it's reliance on marketing natural viewsheds, but as a whole they've been supportive of industrial wind, perhaps being politically correct or perhaps genuinely fearing that the coast of Maine was going to sink beneath the ocean due to global warming.  The head of the tourism dept went to one of First Wind's "wind farm" BBQ's (Stetson?) and raved at how beautiful the turbines were.  Of course, if these wind turbines were being placed along the coast, there would be some loud screaming, I'm sure.  Rising electricity rates might get their attention but if the media doesn't explain why the rates are rising, they won't connect the dots.  It might be helpful to try to get another presentation before the tourism board; the last time around they insisted on having the wind industry represent their side of the debate and although the attendees laughed when the wind developer circulated photos of Kansas wind farms bragging that Maine could look like that, too, there have been few wind warriors among most of the tourism related industries.  I just don't understand it.

The gag orders for government employees were written up for and established into law by the Interior Department. The gag orders for the industry are their own written up by lawyers.

Penny...there have been tourism meetings lately, I wonder if they are ready to recognize that wind turbines will hurt Maine's tourism industry? I see also that the National Park promoters have a couple hundred businesses lined up to support the NP. Who lined up their support? Could we enlist them to stop the wind turbine cabal? If a NP is good for tourism, then stopping windsprawl would also be good for tourism. It would be pointless to have a NP then allow wind turbines to be strung all along the boundary.

Apparently even the gag order wasn't enough or the 30 year "take" permits to allow the killing of bald and golden eagles wouldn't have been necessary.  Too many non-gvmt controlled people are taking notice of the slaughter.

The gag orders were put in place for the FWS on  DEC 31 1996. It was a move necessary to protect this industry. An industry that would get us off Middle Eastern oil, fix climate and provide enough energy to run every household in America.

Who issued the gag orders?  Our gvmt?

Comment by Jim Wiegand on March 25, 2015 at 10:14pm

I need to make a slight correction.............just one group of 38 (not 28) of the new 1 MW turbines declared "safer, "killed at least 4 golden eagles in the first year.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
