We were warned: Polite Discourse Does Not Work

We can't say we weren't warned. It was all written right here.

For years we have patiently followed the rules. We've done everything we were asked to do. Yet this week the Maine Senate just completely blew off the citizens whose rights were stolen by the wind con men.

Listen again please, for there is no other way to say it -  the Maine Senate just completely blew off the citizens whose rights were stolen by the wind con men.

And one more time - the Maine Senate just completely blew off the citizens whose rights were stolen by the wind con men.

It is all here.

A YES vote below means the senator squashed citizens' rights.

We fought these parasites for almost 2 years in Frankfort. We were continually told that they would respect our wishes and honor our decisions until of course things didn't go their way. Eolian LLC then pitted neighbor against neighbor with outright lies and distort ions. When that failed they brought in the lawyers in an attempt to have our ordinance set aside. So much for the wishes of a large majority of the town. When it was evident that they would lose that battle they tried to have the selectmen accept a letter of consent to allow them, and only them, to ignore the ordinance and build with no restrictions they would then of couse drop the lawsuit and request for damages. Fortunately again the people voted not to accept their blackmail and they eventually dropped the lawsuit. Are they gone for good????? We can only hope, but we will not ignore the treat.

Brad, given the fact that we've been "dismissed" by the legislators, it seems that this is the time for us to march on Augusta.  En masse.  With big posters.  Even tho the press isn't behind us, they DO love anything that sells newspapers.

Penny, hold on to that thought, as we need to plan around it.  The greatest amount of notice we have ever been given in Maine were the arrests at the Rollins protest in November 2010.  We have proposed good legislation regarding PL 661 in two sessions of the Legislature and been blown off both times.  As Bob Sousa notes below, the Dems are ideologically wedded to wind turbines.  Obama is about to do an address on climate change featuring---you guessed it---more economically devastating "renewable engergy".  Their heads are stuck firmly up their arses and are closed minded about the facts that refute any benefits.  Just pour more taxpayer money (and balloon the $17 Trillion National Debt) into supporting something that doesn't work.  If we are going to save our state, we must get people's attention and it has become obvious we can't do it in the halls of the state capital, when Legislative leadership not only ignore facts, but demean citizens and make openly stupid statements of support for wind power.

Remeber this, folks:  This excerpt from MPR coverage of LD 616, which was about restoring citizens rights for Unorganized Territories that were taken away by the Expedited Wind Permitting and not directly about wind.  "Democratic Rep., and co-chair of the committee, Barry Hobbins of Saco. "This is just a fancy way of repackaging what is really a moratorium on the wind industry for certain areas of the state," Hobbins said."  This exemplifies the Democratic Party attitude of protecting the wind industry, an industry that would not exist without unduly generous subsidies and tax favoritism, selling Enron-inspired RECs, and heinous mandates through arbitrary and ridiculous Renewable Porfolio Statdards.

My proudest moment in 5 years of battling the proliferation of industrial wind power in Maine.  Photo taken as the Town of Lincoln cop was warning me he was about to place me under arrest for criminal trespass at Rollins.  A friend grabbed me and pulled me away so I could stay free to speak to the media.  I believe we need another high visibility event.

Time to start picketing in front of the State House?

It's not surprising to see all but one Democrat vote against the people of Maine. They continue to line the pockets of their friends at the expense of hard working Maine taxpayers. They never saw a welfare program or taxpayer funded give away they didn't use to further their own agenda. Unfortunately we have far too many people that will sacrifice integrity for a free ride and that's what keeps these fools in the majority. Any reasonable person that takes even a small amount of time to research wind will quickly find that it is nothing more than a scam to enrich the few (Angus King comes to mind) at the expense of the many.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
