The bill would chart a path for Maine to get all its power from renewable sources by 2030, transforming the economy and creating clean-energy-sector jobs. In important ways, it mirrors national aspirations to slow global warming that are embodied in controversial Green New Deal legislation being championed in Congress by another young newcomer, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y...............................
More than 60 separate working titles are being proposed for the committee that handles energy and utility matters. At least 10 more are pending for potential hearings in other committees.

Initial proposals, of course, don’t mean much. Language is still pending on many bills, and most will be modified, combined or withdrawn as the legislative session progresses. But their titles indicate the new direction and broad scope of energy policy debate about to take place in Augusta, where Gov. Janet Mills and majority Democrats will embrace clean-energy strategies both as an economic development tool and to blunt the impacts of climate change.

Excerpt from Governor Mills' February 11 address to the legislature:
The world is changing. We need to define Maine’s place in the new world.
We will work with the private sector and with groups like the Maine Development Foundation to identify our state’s many assets and build upon them to foster and attract:
- Sustainable farming, diversified fisheries and innovative forest products businesses
- Clean energy producers
- High tech industries
- Data centers
- Places for people to work remotely, and
- A quality of life that will attract young working families back to our state.
Climate change is a priority issue. Our Office of Policy Innovation and the Future is preparing a climate agenda which I will announce in the coming weeks.
Suffice it to say, we will make every effort, without additional general fund dollars:
- to assist the University of Maine in the research and development of offshore wind power;
- to provide incentives for community and residential solar power;
- to promote energy efficiency and weatherization;
- to increase the use of heat pumps;
- to build charging stations and incentives for electric vehicles;
- and to help local and state government become “green.”
Right now, Hannah Pingree, who leads the Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, is working with Efficiency Maine to develop a program to promote the installation of 100,000 heat pumps in businesses and houses by 2025.
That alone would save $30 to $60 million annually in heating bills, and lower carbon emissions by 100,000 to 200,000 metric tons a year and wean our state off fossil fuels. We look forward to unveiling the details of this effort shortly.

The Socialists see their green wave as a grand wealth distribution scheme.
Any luxury goods and services will have surtaxes above certain values.
If you buy a $50,000 car, anything above $30,000 will have a 25% surtax.
If you buy a $500 watch, anything above $100 will have a 25% surtax.
If you travel business or first class, anything above economy will have a 25% surcharge
Any household having too much gross income will have a gross income surcharge tax
The collected tax money will be used to set up programs, energy and other, to subsidize favorite political groups that will vote Democrat forever.
The main goal is redistribution and vote getting

This past November's vote has affirmed that socialism has arrived almost unconstrained in Maine.
Overturn this unfortunate occurrence,or leave for the greener prosperous pastures to the south and west, where the "Politicized GREEN Ideology and Stupidity of Groupthink" is less prevalent.
It is time for non-socialist forces and businesses to rebel, or leave the state and allow it to foment in its own stupidity.
Let the socialists of Maine pay for their own socialism which will result ultimately in a failed state.

Some of the people at the environmental groups and other "NGO's" believe in what they re doing, often having grown up with an education system that pushes socialism and other departures from reality. Their leadership is another story, with fat jobs and pensions reliant upon doing the bidding of not just the wind industry but some real bad people who are dead set on hobbling America.

By the time two years goes by the state will be bankrupt and so far out that there may not be enough Mainers left to vote out the communists!
