MAINE WIND ENERGY ADVISORY COMMISSION - REPORT Dated 1/2/19 (FINAL)
Democratic Rep. Seth Berry said the report will likely have little impact under Democratic Gov. Janet Mills, who has voiced support for promoting renewable energy. Mills’ office didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

As usual, a vanilla report, straight down the middle including a sorry accusation that people who find wind turbines absurd must be emotionally driven and lacking factual data.FACT : The author of this report has no clue what parts of the findings should have been emphasized.FACT : Individual turbines are now massive in size and intrude visibly at a scale that cuts across town borders, including towns with ordinances that have established setbacks that these huge machines encroach upon.FACT : Maine people have rediscovered many local scenic treasures that the State fails to recognize as significant and will not even allow consideration of it's local and statewide importance.FACT : Every purchasing contract for the power from Maine Wind Plants have increased ratepayer electricity costs.FACT : Massachusetts, with it's immense appetite for renewables. purchases most of the Maine Wind Power, which is the main reason they are built here.FACT : Massachusetts companies have built most of Maine's Wind Plants.FACT : Maine, by far, hosts the most wind power, by state, in New England.FACT : Main electrical generation is 75% clean/renewableFACT : Tangible benefits of $4000 per turbine per year is a bribe and was an absurd amendment to a proposed legislative bill that would have permitted wind only if it could prove reductions in electric rates, statewide.FACT : ISO-NE has been frustrated with the intermittent nature of wind, forming many new market rules that add to the cost of electricity.FACT : Many Maine towns have rejected wind by ordinance and many Maine territories have rejected the expedited wind siting rules.FACT : The DEP has rejected wind applications to the extent that no recourse to amending the application would have changed the rejection to an approval.FACT : The DEP has challenged many applications for many various reasons, forcing developers to amend their applications.FACT : Decommissioning wind developments is shoved to a shelf and forgotten. It will be a disaster when roads and drainage devices fail after decommissioning. Gravity will rule as the mess cascades down the mountain.FACT : REPEAL THE WIND ENERGY ACT NOW.
