Wind Power Pusher Gov Baldacci Compensated $200,000 a year by Avangrid (CMP parent and giant wind company)

Baldacci was elected vice chair of the board of Avangrid, then the nation's second largest wind company, in December 2015 and only now --- for the very first time --- does the Portland Press Herald announce this. Why was this never done before. Baldacci is the creator of the state's horrendous 2008 expedited wind law that makes it near impossible to stop a wind project, except for local ordinances. Prior to the law, which the legislature simply rubber stamped, Baldacci had created a wind task force which had a purpose of getting rid of any obstacles in the way of the wind industry running roughshod over the people of Maine. The law was written by and for the wind industry.  More to be read here:

(Press Herald Acknowledges Gov Baldacci on Avangrid's Board for First Time - 985 Days Late)

TWO MAINERS ON AVANGRID BOARD

Avangrid also has two Mainers serving in board positions, one with a strong background in business and the other in government.

Betsey Timm is an independent, non-executive member of the board of directors. A former president of Bank of America in Maine, she sits in the board’s Audit and Compliance panel.

Some of CMP’s detractors see a sinister element in the presence of Baldacci, who has an annual compensation of $200,000. They say he was rewarded for supporting CMP’s $1.4 billion transmission system upgrade in 2009, the Maine Power Reliability Program.

Avangrid says Baldacci, who has served on the board since 2014 and now is vice chairman, was selected for his deep experience in government relations and economic development.

Under fire from all sides, CMP losing the power of its word

Of course there is no mention in this article about CMP parent Avangrid's vice chairperson being none other than ex-Governor John Baldacci. http://www.windtaskforce.org/page/corruption-in-maine-1 Nor has there every been any reference to this in the past. Nor has there been any reference in the Press Herald to Baldacci's PUC commissioner Kurt Adams. Under Adams' leadership, the PUC greased the skids for the $1.4 billion ratepayer funded Maine Power Reliability Program (MPRP), also known as the CMP upgrade. With the help of a hand maiden media, the CMP upgrade was sold into ratepayers as needed due to "aging lines" as well as predicted population growth when in fact both were nonsense. The sole reason ratepayers were conned into paying for this (beyond simply the PUC mandate) was so that they would buy the wind industry a transmission line for shipping its electricity from northern Maine wind "farms" to southern New England, without which the wind projects couldn't be built. A $1.4 Billion outright GIFT to the wind industry by unwitting misled ratepayers. Adams then jumped to First Wind to become Director of Transmission after receiving over $1 million in First Wind stock options while still PUC commissioner according to the nonpartisan  Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting.

And Baldacci in December 2015 became Vice Chairman of the second largest wind power company in the U.S. That's right - Gov Baldacci who created Maine's expedited wind law, a 2008 special interest law written by and for the wind industry that makes it near impossible to stop wind farms, now sits near the top of the wind industry.

Doug Herling, Central Maine Power president and chief executive officer, and a native Mainer, says mistrust of the state’s largest electric utility is linked to snowballing social media attacks, unfavorable news coverage and skepticism of CMP’s foreign ownership. The 119-year-old company operates as a subsidiary of energy companies Avangrid and its Spanish parent, Iberdrola.

Virtually the entire Baldacci wind task force was made up of either wind industry personnel or the environmental shill groups that they pay off, such as the $500,000 they got from TransCanada for looking the other way on the Kibby wind travesty installation in God's Country.

The stated purpose of the task force was to identify and remove any obstacles to industrializing Maine with wind turbines and their hundreds of miles of new mammoth transmission lines.

Seven years after this lowlife got the wind industry the law they asked for, he joins the wind industry. He makes vermin look good.

Baldacci has been building his financial nest carefully and steadily while destroying the lives of many Mainers and the natural beauty of Maine .Is there any justice ?

Baldacci's incestuous relationship with  the wind lobby and "Wind Mafia" of Maine( such as Kurt Adams of years past) is indeed outrageous,as these publications knew the relationship and refused to publish it. This is a classical expose of Maine' s press bias. This is very sad indeed,as Baldacci  was responsible for the horrendous Expedited Wind Law that stripped many Mainers of their property ( and other) rights, and well being.

My comment:

CMP lost my trust with the massive MPRP transmission project, sold to us as "replacing aging lines" but in reality it increased capacity for wind projects in Maine and increased the capacity for Maine's electricity to be sent to MA. It didn't help when Gov Baldacci, whose Expedited Wind law greased the skids for Maine to become a giant wind plantation, was made vice-president of Iberdrola's wind division Avangrid - ostensibly as a reward for his "good deeds" while in office.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
