BDN - Maine House stalls LePage’s effort to block wind energy development

Gov. Paul LePage’s push to curtail expedited permitting for wind energy projects suffered a serious blow Thursday by Democrats trying to kill the governor’s bill before it can be formally introduced...........

The bill debated Thursday in the House is a follow-on to that order. It would reduce the expedited permitting area, which currently includes much of Aroostook, Washington, Penobscot and Somerset Counties, to only a portion of Aroostook County.

The bill would also extend the distance where a visual impact assessment is required from the current 8 miles to 40 miles.

Pay Attention..............Both parties are pretending to be doing something for their constitutes, but they're actually doing nothing. They also want to draaaaaaaag this all out so they can spend out and wear down the opposition. These slimy wind basta**s did this for over 30 years at Altamont.

The ultimate proof BDN doesn't have a clue or has an agenda. Using a picture of Paul Fuller and a Pisgah turbine to illustrate a story about expedited wind area. Clifton isn't in the expedited area and Fuller has the BDN on speed dial.

This comment was censored earlier from the BDN. The truth hurts. I am honored

To state and openly show the incestuousness of Maine politicians and corporate enviro-groups to the Wind Lobby in Maine, (the interrelationships and and illegalities that have taken place since 2008 ) would take the left wing party of Maine down.

The papers , the FAKE MEDIA of Maine , are complicit as well.

Maine is a WIND STATE.

Maine Energy policy is Owned and operated for the benefit of Corporate Wind's metastatic political complex, Unless its citizenry " Make Maine Great Again"!

Until they start rigging elections and believe me with these crooks it's coming, keeping the dirtbags under a spotlight is one of the best things one can do.

"INDEED ALL THOSE LEGISLATORS WHO SUPPORT WIND POWER IN MAINE SHOULD BE SHAMED  PUBLICLY"

Exactly Monique.

In Vermont, the gubernatorial  race was clearly divided on wind power as the issue was finally reaching Vermonters's  consciousness. Then candidate , now Governor, Phil Scott took a clear position : he did not think wind turbines belong on Vermont mountain ridges and that it was clear that some people suffered from the noise . He is a Republican and he won. Quite an accomplishment in Vt. But I strongly believe that Vermonters value their environment and put that factor on top of other issues and thus elected a Republican . Maine is in a similar situation of existential threat if  the next governor fails to pursue the work of Governor Lepage . The candidates must not be shy in expressing their desire to  refuse to sacrifice Maine magnificence to satisfy the energy gluttony of other states . After 10 years of exposing the wind power scourge and many miles miles of destroyed scenery, it is up to Mainers to show their love of the state and to the Republican candidates OPPOSED TO WIND  to be unafraid .

INDEED ALL THOSE LEGISLATORS WHO SUPPORT WIND POWER IN MAINE SHOULD BE SHAMED  PUBLICLY , ALL THEIR EARLY ARGUMENTS HAVE BEEN PUT TO REST AND THEIR BACKWARD IDEAS ARE NOT EVEN SUPPORTED BY NEIGHBORING VERMONT , ANOTHER  EX" LEADER" IN THE FIGHT OF GLOBAL WARMING !

PEOPLE NEED TO STORM THEIR TOWN MEETINGS AND WRITE LTE'S AND LETTERS TO THE EUT COMMITTEE MEMBERS .  PUBLIC SHAMING. IT IS TIME.

After 10 years of following this wind corrupted legislature, I thought I had seen all the dirty political tricks they could pull off, but Berry and Saviello prove that there is no end to shutting down the voice of the people. A set-up by two of the most devious swamp deviates Augusta has to offer. Vote Them OUT

Every single candidate for election this fall who supports more wind turbines must be hammered over and over again at every town hall, debate and when ever they are anywhere in public!  Make them SQUIRM!

There is graft and corruption at stake here.  Follow the money.  Of course the Donks are going to kill it.

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
