Maine selectman hammers Patriot Renewables

“We felt your company got what they wanted and now they’re leaving,” Selectman Don Hutchins said. “It felt that way; you’ve got your windmills up now you’re gonna go like hell and get your electricity and now the hell with Canton.” ..................

If my memory serves me correctly the Survey was presented to committee after it had been requested by one of the Agencies or the ENR. I believe it was explained as to how it was conducted and what questions were asked and other details. I think it was one of the Video I recorded on Bowers.

Amazing comment Gary.

I did not realize Kleinschmidt did the Bowers "quality of intercept" study on the Bower's project.
Kleinschmidt bragged on its website that one of its engineers was on Baldacci's task force and active in the development of state regulations in Maine. That was of course EUT co-chair Stacey Fitts who killed 12 citizen initiated wind bills.

Fitts now heads up former First Wind projects for Novatus Energy.
Novatus Energy is the owner of three wind generating facilities in Maine, Oakfield, Bingham and Hancock. I oversee the management of these asset in Maine. Additionally Novatus owns and manages over 1.5GW of renewable assets across the U.S.

Jim Boyle/Boyle Associates was retained by First Wind for their ill-fated Bowers project. Jim Boyle was one of FW's expert witnesses testifying about the quality of the user intercept survey Kleinschmidt conducted. Under examination it came out that Boyle was less than objective... he had in fact designed the survey!! That's right, FW had a "survey expert" examine and evaluate a survey he himself designed! When this came out even DEP was chuckling.

Hopefully the Boyle will be lanced in the primaries.

Note that the president of Boyle Associates, named below, is Jim Boyle.

http://www.boyleassociates.net/staff/

Boyle's website also shows First Wind as a client.

http://www.boyleassociates.net/clients-projects/

Jim Boyle was Chair of the Maine legislature's Environment & Natural Resources Committee which looked at wind bills, e.g.,

Many Maine companies were involved in the development and construction of the Canton Mountain Wind project, including Reed & Reed, Sargent Corporation, RLC Engineering, Tetra Tech, Kennebec River Land Surveying, Underwood Electric, Boyle & Associates, Albert Frick Associates, Verrill Dana, Bernstein Shur, and Terrence J. DeWan & Associates.

My comment:

The people of Canton should know better than to believe anything wind farm promoters promise up front. More often than not they have destroyed landscape, vegetation, quality of place, wildlife and just plain quality of life. None of your houses will get the power from these machines, it is all being sent to Mass and RI. The only thing you will get is increased electricity rates, flicker, noise and birdkills. The output from those turbines will amount to about 25% of what they told you. The developer will abscond with all the upfront money you and the government poured in and will never come through with everything they promised. Get used to it. You have been scammed.

******** IF LINKS BELOW DON'T WORK, GOOGLE THEM*********

(excerpts) From Part 1 – On Maine’s Wind Law “Once the committee passed the wind energy bill on to the full House and Senate, lawmakers there didn’t even debate it. They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
