Eric Tuttle: Some Ideas come to mind and can be made legal but for the Criminal Elements from within and those that surround us

Please see the recent comments from Eric Tuttle and Robert Powers.  Robert Powers believes that 25-30 other major wind projects in the planning stages in Maine and I do not doubt this.

BDN - These Maine projects aim to cash in on Bay State hunger for clean energy

Bay State hunger for clean energy? TOTAL MISREPRESENTATION. Rather the "hunger" is simply a Massachusetts state government mandate engineered by politicians and regulators while the average Mass ratepayer, lied to by the Massachusetts media, is oblivious. Anybody think any of those politicians are ON THE TAKE?

Every municipality in these areas in Maine needs a protective wind ordinance -- which is one reason the locations are often not divulged. This coming coordinated and highly sophisticated attack on Maine by Massachusetts and foreign corporations requires an immediate and integrated defense involving all Maine parties concerned with protecting TOURISM, the natural beauty and environment in our state and Mainers. This is a direct assault on our way of life.

Some companies openly disclose their project locations. Others disclose only the county and leave clues as to the specific parcel where they’d land.

How to Fight Big Wind in Maine

None of the public agencies and bureaucracies will take seriously any of your marvelous evidence about the follies and dangers of wind energy (including Nina Pierpont's, or Rick James's, or Glenn Schleede's, or God's for that matter) until -- à la Martin Luther King -- you demonstrate to them that they are going to have to take your evidence seriously.

The operative word is demonstrate. This is not done by reason or argument or a sense of fairness or justice. Sorry to disillusion you, and sorry to shoot down one of the cornerstones of academia: that "the truth will set you free" and "reason prevails over ignorance." Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King all knew the vital word in their struggle was demonstrate.

I would add:

#8 Require Utility companies / corporations / LLC's or otherwise to repurpose, redesign and reconstruct their existing Utilities / Facilities to maximum upgrade allowed with current engineering knowledge prior to expansion for their intended use.

Some Ideas come to mind and can be made legal.

But for the Criminal Elements from within and those that surround us

#1 should be to repeal any statute that Maine has to allow construction of these Grid Scale farms.

#2 should be to enact a statute that encourages individual independent energy security when / where able and provide only incentives to those individuals.

#3 establish local micro grids using excess generated electricity for locations that are unable to generate. Net Metering to track the flow from generators or to users on the microgrid.

#4 levy an Industrial Use tax upon lands owned, leased, or in use by means of ROW, to be paid by the holder of record in lieu of the lessee or conveyor of ROW. With Multiple taxations for Multiple use Corridors.  (one time payments to owners and tax depreciation to communities unacceptable)

#5 Vacate corporate control over ROW's unused for more than 2 years, requiring updated DEP and other agency requirements to be adhered to and be applicable for any renegotiation.

#6 Each community should establish Ordinances that can not be repealed or modified from above but only by communities such as RBO's that receive authority directly from the Constitutions of the U.S. and the State of Maine. (RBO's do not have to prohibit, but do require that the community be consulted first instead of last, thus better meeting community needs over being told what has been approved from above.)

#7 Require that a Pre Export, Pre Pass through condition be met, in that "all" efforts to reduce demand and maximize self-reliant production be satisfied prior to seeking encroachment permissions from community(ies)/state(s) outside the requesting sovereign state(s)

It's not the residents of Massachusetts that are the problem. As reported a few years ago in the Boston Globe and coming from the CEO of one of Massachusetts' largest utilities, NStar. Please see:

http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/green/articles/2010/01/20/nstar_chi...

Here's a choice quote from NStar's CEO, Thomas May:

"Some programs have not been as popular as expected, May added. NStar Green, the program under which consumers can pay a premium to ensure some of their electricity is generated by wind, has attracted only 8,000 NStar customers - less than 1 percent of the company’s 1.1 million electricity consumers, he said. “We were a little disappointed that it was not greater,’’ May said. “Being the greenest state in the land of the free, we have a more educated audience, we have a more concerned, socially conscious audience. So we thought we would do better.’’

Rather, it's the Massachusetts legislature that passes the law requiring the citizens to buy renewables, MOST OF WHICH WILL BE MAINE WIND POWER AS THE CORRUPTION BETWEEN MAINE INSIDERS AND MASS INSIDERS HAS BEEN OPERATIVE FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW. Beware the distraction that this is about Canadian hydro. Believe in that and be prepared to be wildly disappointed when the 25-30 projects go up in Maine. Canadian Hydro will only lure Mainers into a false sense of security. The massive wind invasion is coming and not a single Maine legislator is raising hell.

It seems that the number one state incentive now is the mandate that Mass electricity customers buy "green power". The Mass ratepayers will eventually feel that, but by the time "eventually" happens, Maine will be destroyed. So how do MAINE residents work to eliminate the mandate in MASS, along with likely mandates coming from CT and RI?

Comment by Robert Powers on August 11, 2017 at 9:44am

Unfortunately, many of my suggestions would probably be unpopular and likely not be legal...my frustration is rampant...

But more seriously, work to eliminate all national & state financial incentives, tax breaks, etc...etc...it has to hit the pocket books and value to any potential investors...also reduce permitting "short cuts"...that will also effect economics.

Unfortunately, there are still too many people who will pay more for so called "green power" be cause they have been duped into believing that there is "man-made" climate change...a very well orchestrated but totally FALSE concept...promoted by powerful people & institutions, also for financial reasons...I know, because at one time I was part of that system...but became aware of the real truth and the now still popular lies.

Do you have any suggestions for action Mr. Powers?

Comment by Robert Powers on August 11, 2017 at 9:25am

It is all about money...it speaks very loudly...the ground work has been laid very carefully...and discreetly...deep in local politics.  It is also about individual land rights...the people who actually own the land and pay taxes on it will be primary economic beneficiaries of the leases as well as local tax base.

Not easy to overcome...

The gigantic threat right now are the "green" mandates from Massachusetts, with Connecticut and Rhode Island likely to follow with their own.

- Is there a legislator in Maine who will lead a fight against this takeover of our state?

- If so, who is that legislator?

- What has Governor LePage done to stop this?

- In view of this coming wave of projects, why is the Governor not calling for a moratorium to study the effects?

- What would Brookings say - they talked about "Quality of Place" as our number one asset - it's about to get completely stepped on in large parts of the state and I don't hear a peep.

- Where are the TOURISM organizations on this?

- Is there a petition, perhaps an online petition that can be signed and sent to decision makers including President Trump?

- Has President Trump gotten to his FERC appointment yet? Can FERC do anything?

- Where is DOWNEAST magazine on this coming wave?

- Where is YANKEE magazine?

- What is Mary Mayhew's position on this, as she has announced her candidacy for Governor?

We need to buy time, because the enemy (many from foreign countries who don't like America) have been quietly and busily planning the giant coming wave for years and it is about to hit us and forever change Maine and other parts of northern New England.

They passed it unanimously and with no discussion. House Majority Leader Hannah Pingree, a Democrat from North Haven, says legislators probably didn’t know how many turbines would be constructed in Maine if the law’s goals were met." . – Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, August 2010 https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-power-bandwagon-hits-bumps-in-the-road-3/From Part 2 – On Wind and Oil Yet using wind energy doesn’t lower dependence on imported foreign oil. That’s because the majority of imported oil in Maine is used for heating and transportation. And switching our dependence from foreign oil to Maine-produced electricity isn’t likely to happen very soon, says Bartlett. “Right now, people can’t switch to electric cars and heating – if they did, we’d be in trouble.” So was one of the fundamental premises of the task force false, or at least misleading?" https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/wind-swept-task-force-set-the-rules/From Part 3 – On Wind-Required New Transmission Lines Finally, the building of enormous, high-voltage transmission lines that the regional electricity system operator says are required to move substantial amounts of wind power to markets south of Maine was never even discussed by the task force – an omission that Mills said will come to haunt the state.“If you try to put 2,500 or 3,000 megawatts in northern or eastern Maine – oh, my god, try to build the transmission!” said Mills. “It’s not just the towers, it’s the lines – that’s when I begin to think that the goal is a little farfetched.” https://www.pinetreewatchdog.org/flaws-in-bill-like-skating-with-dull-skates/
